Finally spot a reason to keep this volunteer vegetable spreading all over my backyard.

Looks like the butternut squash I'm growing, lots of vine, same shape "fruit". The down side is if it is volunteer, it may be a hybrid. Depends on where the seeds came from, if the squash(?) they came from grew in proximity to another variety, they could have crossed.

Years ago, I bought some delicata squash from a roadside gardener. The squash was excellent but I didn't get them all used and found one in gross condition. For an unrecalled reason, I laid it on the porch, next to the garden space then forgot about it. Got knocked into the garden. Scraped up most of it but missed some seeds.

Spring came, vines came up. didn't remember the "spill" so let them grow to see what they were. I was thrilled when it more to see what looked clearly like delicata. They got bigger around than what I had bought but didn't think anything of it. Then, when they were ready and I cooked one, I found they were very much a spaghetti squash in disguise. I did end up using them but was disappointed that they were not delicata squash in flavor.

Good luck, hope your produce turns out great.

Interesting. We shall see. I have ripped out all the other vines. Got tired of them climbing all over my other plants.
These seeds came from my worm compost. Most likely a veggie I bought from regular supermarket. The flowers are pretty, big and showy.
Hey, I was just looking at my sea onions. They are doing great! 🙂

Most likely, I never bought gourd and seeds came from my compost. 😄

@Zoohome I love the surprises from the compost pile. Looking and trying to guess what they will be. I got baby sweet potatoes once 🙂

Maybe, but I would bet on squash or spaghetti squash. Those are what I usually buy. But we shall see. 🙂

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
