While out watering today I saw many cattapillers on my milk weed, and one getting ready to make its cocoon.

So cool! A friend of mine 'raises & releases' them. I love watching the transformation

I love to watch them too. I keep my milkweed healthy so the butterfly's keep coming. The two plants in the back yard were stripped of their leaves so I cut them back and hopefully they will come back quickly before the three in the front get eaten up too!!

@Redheadedgammy Did you plant them from seed , plant or naturally grew . I want to plant some , my nursery said they would plant some for me but said they couldn't find the seeds .I've seen them on the net . I've got plenty of property to plant them and would like to help the monarchs out .

@Besalbub I started mine from cuttings off a mature plant a friend had. They root really easy. I start them in pots so they can get a good root system, then put them in the ground. I have 6 plants now that I started from cuttings.😉

Cool, it looks like their future is secure.

They will find any slightly sheltered spot to pupate in a chrysalis in, these ought to on their way to Mexico soon.

I just love watching them daily get bigger and fatter. I have Butterflies all over the milkweed so I guess they are still laying eggs. Hope we don't have a real cold spell before they are on their way to Mexico.

@Redheadedgammy It looks like an Indian summer is on it's way next week, so they should be fine. I have planted a bunch of fennel for the swallowtails next spring, I planted a pound of seeds and right now i have a ton of tiny fennel plants all over my year right now.

@glennlab that's awesome Glenn. I have planted a pollinator garden for my bees and butterflies. Trying to do my small part to save them.😍
