Every home I purchased had as my first project a rototilled yard without grass and newly planted veggies.

I gave a talk today at the annual meeting of a local garden club. I did a co-presentation with Audubon and me as the native plant expert to explain the why, how and what of using native plants to attract birds and butterflies and create a healthier landscape.

Lawn has to be the most expensive garden you can have, in every term you could imagine. Requiring the highest carbon footprint, the most time and effort, the highest chemical inputs and giving the lowest returns to both humans and wildlife. It is truly criminal that such things should be enshrined in the law of some countries.
