I haven't heard about this before but I think one cup is not enough. If I still had my garden I would place Vaseline covered cups everywhere to see how well it works. Make sure and put them out early before aphids infest the plants. I believe this photo is from a mock orange. Aphids would always end up on the mock orange every year.
