I’m going to get me one of these Australian finger limes. They are more resistant to citrus greening.

They are more a novelty, I bought a couple for a project at work and one for myself, it is 4 years old now, about 3 feet high very sparse foliage and no sign of fruit or flowers. They are grown from cuttings, 3 colours of fruit I know of, I have the red - I believe. As a contrast I have a lemon tree near it, grafted, planted a year ago, it is 8 feet high and has been fruiting well for the past 3 months.

I mainly want to use it for garnish on sea food and Desserts

@Donto101 A man after my own heart. We have a tree here, almost unknown in the wild now. A small leaf tamarind, I found one in fruit about 7 years ago, it has not fruited since. About 150 feet high and the ground was covered in fruit for about 3 weeks. I would sit and eat them just spit out the big seed. More sour than any lemon, I really want to get some for a fish sauce.

@Rugglesby wow that is rare there is only a few left in the wild. I wonder if that will grow here in Florida or if I could even find one here. There is a native wild Tamarind that grows in South Florida but won’t grow up here. I don’t believe it’s fruit is edible though.

Edited. Doesn’t look like I can buy them here but I think I could grow it if I could get one. Every place I see them for sale is in Australia. The one you have must be a wild one as big as it is. There is only 42 known wild small leaf tamarind. That would be so cool if you had number 43.

@Donto101 No, mine is in the list. There are some growing under cultivation, I had no luck growing them at all. I have access to a data base of rare/endangered plants and animals giving gps locations. I get to add to it when I find something and choose to hide it from the general public. Some species are hidden by default and cannot be revealed. It is an awesome resource.
I always do the right thing and ask permission before taking seeds and such when I have to. Sadly, I disagree with many of the decisions. One plant is in serious decline, there were only 3 known specimens, I was with a group and we found 5 more, it had seed and can be grown readily but we were forbidden to do so.

@Rugglesby that is so cool. And it sucks that they wouldn’t allow you to take seed. It could save the. Species
