25 years, till death parted us, me the atheist and him a Presbyterian. Sometimes made for great and loud discussions, but the love connection held up. I think the issue is this; if you are an atheist and that is all you are and she is devoutly religious and that is all she is, then you are flat people and the connection will eventually fade, but if you are both people with many facets to your personalities, religious belief being just one, and you are tolerant of the differences, I think it can make for an interesting and lively relationship. Personally, I never wanted to be someone who regrets the road not followed.

The men I am attracted to tend to be religious too. :/ It is difficult finding Latino/black guys that are not religious, especially if they are immigrants or kids of immigrants. grrr

I agree both can if they are upfront and do not try to change each other’s beliefs. There are lots of Jewish and Muslim people married in happy relationships. They have rose above the crowd and love each for whom they are and what the rest of the world thinks. They really do not care. All in ones attitude and openness I think

How much respect could you give a conservative Christian in the long run? For me, intellectual banter is necessary in a relationship. I've become too opinionated to tolerate irrational claims and beliefs, especially ones that lead to discriminatory policies.

There have been several occasions , where a man who did not attend a church , decided , when we got together , that he should take me to what ever church he adhered to . In my opinion it was less a matter of his belief , and more a matter of a stronger authority to tell me how he wanted me to act = submissive , obedient , stupid .
