The little one got home from the vet mid afternoon. She woke up and started howling so they were ready for her to go. 🙂 She was pretty dopey rest of the day, mostly sleeping and a little wobbly. Lost another tooth, had a weed/grass seed embedded in her foot. Needs another dental in 6 months because there are more teeth that may be coming out. Antibiotics for 10 days.

Old age! That fact is actually very frightening for me. They anesthetized her while I was there, I held her until she went to sleep. Just that almost made me cry, it was too reminiscent of the process I have taken several of my buddies through in the last 5 years. This one is really going to tear me up when she goes. She truly is "my baby". Realized today, when vet said he might have to keep her overnight, depending on how she processed the anesthesia, that she and I have not spent one night apart since I got her, 7 years ago.

That was enough excitement for the day. Standard fare as far as eating, except I ended up having an ounce of beef jerky for supper because I wanted some protein and didn't want to fix anything after water aerobics. Intake at 1121 for the day, nice low number. Wobbling on the edge of that goal, day up, day down. It is SO close. Just a matter of time until it stabilizes.

Maybe better if it keeps wobbling. Then it keeps you on your toes. The danger once you reach your goal is complacency!

I'm sure it will remain wobbly. After I get reliably under my goal, it can take only a couple days to pop back up if I don't pay attention. That's why I know this will have to be a lifetime effort. Although I have developed some better habits over the last 2 years, I know it would not take much for me to lapse back into the old patterns of eating.

@DotLewis I have read on sweveral occasions that will power strengthens with use, but I have to say I have not found that to be the case.Developing better habits sounds good, especially if you can see what the basis was for the old habits. Recognising triggers and finding ways to stop them leading to food would be the best change for me!

@CeliaVL Better habits is the safest avenue for me. While I am able to identify some of the things that set off a binge, such as stress and frustration, when those things actually hit, I rarely recognize them until well into a feast. I tend to hold a lot in, emotionally so the build up to a binge inducing level is kind of subtle and sneaky.

I'm learning to recognize the symptoms, when I start skipping the recording, I am generally in binge mode. Fortunately, i have rarely gone more than one day at a time without tracking my Intake, seeing the lack of accountability will generally pull me back some. Also, daily weigh in is just routine now, and will continue as it is really my best tool for keeping on track.

Interesting and coincidental that you had some "jerky" for dinner...

I did the same! My daughter-in-law is always experimenting with different foods...and she bought and shared a package of "chicken jerky"....very tasty, not too salty. Not pleasant to look at (looks like raw chicken which made me a little hesitant to try it) but turned out to be quite good.

Never tried chicken (or turkey) jerky. Had beef of course and deer actually makes good jerky even though I don't generally like the taste of venison. I keep a jar of beef jerky, teriyaki flavored, in the fridge, since I eat it fairly slowly and it will get moldy if left out after opening. The dogs do have a bag of "chicken jerky strips" which they seem fond of. It does have a kind of "raw" look to it.

Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.

Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.
