I grew up putting up "Christmas Trees".
Fortunately, My father was "Episcopal" my mother was a passive, unreligious Jew...so I never even saw the holiday as one connected in any way to the birth of Jesus.
As I discovered in later years...all that Glenn "held back from saying" (but said anyway) proved, historically, to be true.
