I've recently had to hold my tongue about small dogs because my sister got a chihuahua that she has beautifully trained, but I still prefer big dogs. I had a Golden Retriever who was perfect. I miss him a lot.

Yeah after our milkman told us the dogs that bit him the most were small dogs - I've had no great liking for them.

However if they are raised like a dog and not a baby - they can do just fine.

I have a pug. He has no idea he is small. He loves big dogs and humans and other pugs. He is not very alpha like the little dogs tend to be. He is a pushover.

Another reason I've always preferred larger dogs.
They're just happy to be with you.
