I've been told by friends that I'm the most militant atheist they know. All the while I'm thinking, "I'm not shit, you should see some of the people on Agnostic.com!"
I don't claim "militancy", tho I am inherently direct & can be confrontational, I strive for a more "Street Epistemology" approach...it's a work in progress. I am a "Firebrand Atheist" & I am not at all ashamed of my stance or outlook. I wear atheist/science t-shirts often, hoping to spark discussion. I have an "Atheist Atom" tat on my right forearm. I speak with the JW's or Mormons that come to my door. I'm proud & can be loud when needed. I'm "out", as far as my atheism goes, & I can support the many reasons why I am!

I adore the atheist atom. I used to have a sticker in my car
But we're nice people....

If she's that naughty...I better follow her.
Love your meme! Totally stealing it!
Adding it to my collection as well!
I don't preach atheism at random strangers. However, once the outwardly religious start preaching at me they're fair game .
Yup, I like taking the bus but occasionally you get the nut job trying to convert you during the ride. So rude, no manners!
@JazznBlues When I preach back at them, the typical reaction is for them to hang their head in shame. Three minutes later, they're doing it to another guy.
Having once been called a "Nimrod" by my brother's pastor, I took it as the ultimate compliment.
"Nimrod" is a biblical term meaning "mighty hunter."
You should have shot him so he could be right.
It no longer amuses me how little Christians know what's in the bible.
I think I'm the most pacifist atheist, agnostic really. I got a lot from religion and I appreciate what religion was trying to achieve. So I've moved on without the bitterness a lot of people (justifiably) feel.
I think the self-righteous type still get on my nerves but that's not entirely limited to the religious. Especially nowadays with the attitude of extreme lefties dictating what's true like old-time Puritans.
Brilliant.
Had the opportunity to meet David Silverman, the ex-president of American Atheists before he was kicked out. He was proud of his militancy and referred to himself as a "dick". I liked him.
Silverman said we should come out as an Atheist, not as anon, or non-theist, or agnostic. If people liked us before they'll like us after we come out. I've found that to be mostly true. Those that didn't I probably didn't want as friends anyway.
I tend to mock the overly religious. Car not working? You tried praying right? You tithe right? Gee I don't know, I'm stumped.
I think we all have our moments. Some carry that badge of honor and some are more laid back about it. Main stream society loves to label us as one extreme or the other.
