They try, and try, and try, . . . .

May 07, 2014 So far, no dark matter candidates have been detected. Dark matter is undetectable, except through its supposed gravitational interactions with visible matter. . . .

Oct 30, 2014 No dark matter candidates have been detected. . . .

Jul 25, 2016 Dark matter detection failed again. It was once thought that burned-out stars or large planets exert “dark” forces on galactic structures. Those invisible influences were called MAssive Compact Halo Objects (MACHOs). However, years of investigation found nothing.

Mar 28, 2017 Dark matter detection failed again. . . .

April 4, 2017 Dark matter detection failed again. . . .

Dec 10, 2018 Astronomers think an undetectable kind of matter must exist in space, because stars on the edges of spiral galaxies revolve with the same angular velocity as stars close to their centers. Newtonian theory says that stars farther away ought to move more slowly (as distant planets in our solar system do), and without more mass these outer stars would leave their galaxies. Serious challenges to the theory of dark matter were already published when those ideas were made public.

Super-cooled crystals and other cryogenic detectors have failed to find dark matter, so scientists are using quantum physics; attempting to build instruments that are more sensitive to their theories.
