When I lost my husband of 22 years in 2002 to ALS, the thing I missed most was our time spent outdoors, we did everything together, Concerts, Canoeing, Camping, Hiking, Backpacking.! I'm still searching for that someone 😟

My late partner and I also did a lot of outdoor things. We did a lot of trail building and land maintenance which I still do but somehow it doesn't feel the same.

i know the feeling. I lost my wife to ALS, which is particularly cruel because a diagnosis is a death sentence. there is no remission, no cure.

My mom died of the same damn disease at least 5 years before my husband was diagnosed, so I knew what to expect. It was horrible, and I wanted to die too !

@joantheloon the grieving begins with the diagnosis because the outcome is a foregone conclusion. the feelinh of helplessness is overwhelming because there's nothing you can do

@TheDoubter I don't think it was at the diagnoses, but he died in my eyes, long before his actual death. Going from a very active person to being in a wheelchair that he controlled with his chin via a "stick", and then he had all his care, including hospice, really took it's toll on me.
