Here in Northern Ireland, The Ulster Orchestra is our local professional orchestra, based in Belfast, and a few years ago it was under serious threat due to a reduction in Arts Council Grants, and a campaign to save the Orchestra was organised. Luckily it worked and new donors were found including local businesses and public and private sponsors. In 2014, at the height of the campaign, shoppers at busy St George’s Market in the centre of Belfast were surprised by this Flash Mob performance by the Orchestra. The piece they are performing is by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla.
