As today I’m going to meet up for an informal open air sing-song and lunch (the first time together since March 2020), with my Choir …I’m posting this which a small group of choir members performed as part of a local Northern Irish history programme on BBC TV a number of years ago. Unfortunately, as I was overseas at the time I am not included in the group. They sing Slieve Gallion Braes, a local song referencing a peak in the nearby Sperrin Mountains, and they were filmed at Springhill House, Moneymore , Co Londonderry, which is 3 miles from my home.

Yes..it was so good to see them all and to be able to sing together. We’re planning to start rehearsals again next month with a view to performing a concert at Christmastime.
You live near some very beautiful landscape. Impressive choir.

I’ve really no idea…it’s an old traditional song from this area of Northern Ireland.
@Marionville Braes means hillside, Does Slieve mean hill? And Gallion throws me completely. County Londonderry? I call it County Derry. I loved Bernadette Devlin!
@rogerbenham Bernadette is from Co.Tyrone, a place called Coalisland which I drove through today on my way to Dungannon where the choir met up. We call the city Derry and the County Londonderry…hence The Londonderry Air aka Danny Boy. Slieve in Ireland is the equivalent of Ben in Scotland, and means mountain.
