This is just an adjunct to my post yesterday re Norwegian musician, singer & frontman of
a-ha - Morten Harket. In the 1990s Morten was very affected by exiled Russian Poet Joseph Brodsky’s poem about the war in the former Yugoslavia titled “Bosnia Tune” and he set about putting Brodsky’s words to music in an electrifying song which was debuted live throughout Europe on air in 1994 as part of the European Election Weekend. He subsequently included it on his debut solo album Wild Seed the following year. The almost wailing high notes are said to represent the grief of the mothers of the fallen/slaughtered sons. It’s a most compelling listen, Brodsky’s words are harsh in condemnation of the indifference of a war on European soil whilst we go about our mundane everyday routines while people die …comparisons can be drawn today with Ukraine of course. Brodsky Tune (Time Will Pronounce)…MTV interview and live recording, followed by Album track….
