It's mind blowing that every picture of our galaxy is a reproduction and generated like a squirrel reproducing a forest from only the perspective of one tree in the middle.

It is mind blowing indeed. Even when it seems logical to think "who took that picture?", not many people realize that

@IamNobody so correct considering that our farthest probe may take a century to leave the yellow circle in this pic.

@Lukian .....a century going at the speed of light, right?

@IamNobody probably... hard to judge distances.

So where is Santraginus V?

chilehead9 Level 7 Nov 11, 2018

I think the center of the galaxy.

That's actually the place in our Galaxy only. The universe have thousands of millions and millions of pictures like this combined in a space no one knows how big it really is.

IamNobody Level 8 Nov 11, 2018

yes, I should have said Milky Way Galaxy, so sorry.

@AntaresRose No reason to be sorry...... Actually a funny and interesting fact, your sentence would've been correct a little bit more than just hundred years ago. That's right, it's not that long ago when the "known" universe was our own galaxy. Then Hubble (Edwin, the actual dude...not the telescope named after him) comes up and said - "Wait a minute, I think there's more here".... Boy, were we bound for a big surprise or what !?
