All mainstream media is geared to highlighting the crimes of our enemies and ignoring the crimes of our allies and ourselves. I'm long sick of it.
Yes, and I often wonder to myself just how many of these 'war crimes' committed by and were 'covered up' but the media and the Allies during wars/conflicts such as in WWII, Vietnam, Korea, etc, etc?
For example, DID NOT America LITERALLY Fire Bomb cities in Japan killing and burning hundreds, if NOT thousands of INNOCENT, men, women, children and babies during WWII, was there a War Crimes Trial held over that, NO there wasn't.
WHY wasn't there?
@Triphid The hypocrisy is everywhere. When we -- our allies and we -- kill innocent people, it is collateral damage. When countries we don't like kill, it is a war crime and terrorism. When our enemies kill people on a list, it is foreign assassination. When we do it, it is a 'kill list" of deserving targets. When the Russians interfere in elections, it is an attack on our democracies. When we do to other countries, it is our clever security agencies engaging in essential intelligence operations. When foreign agents are captured by us, they are spies and deserving of the worst. When we place spies in the Kremlin or similar places, and they are outed, it is our clever spooks who got them there in the first place and they are heroes. It doesn't seem to matter how many disastrous wars or interventions we start, how many people die, how appalling the results are, or how unjustified they were, we are always the goods guys and criticism is unpatriotic. The military are always heroes, the agencies are always patriots, and as long as our "intentions" were honorable, it is OK. Well, I call out the despicable acts of despotic regimes, and I also call out our war and espionage crimes. As a student of history, not some unthinking patriot, I can think in no other way. I grew up with the bullshit of Vietnam. I am growing old with the bullshit of 21st Century western self-righteousness.
@David1955 And I do so as well. A War Crime is A WAR Crime no matter who or which side commits it in my opinion.
I am approx., and at quick guess, somewhere around 2 years older than you are, I also grew up at the time of the Vietnam War so I reckon I have a pretty damned good idea of what went on over there and have some mates who served in it as well, though they are a few years older than me.
