Being Agnostic and/or Apatheist is NOT a Weak Position
I care to differ with anyone who'd say an agnostic and/or apatheist is "weak" in their universal view. Perhaps a VERY few of us are "riding the fence" with a former religion or with hopes the "right one" comes along, but most of us have made the decision they really can't know or, in the case of we apatheists, really don't care. It is very likely we both feel any argument for or against the supreme being(s) position is the most ignorant waste of time one could ever involve themselves in.
The first is the most common version of this meme. While I'm certain it was created by an atheist, the author missed some key elements regardless of their philosophy.
Primarily, a baby is born an apatheist. There is no "implicit atheism"...the newborn has no knowledge of theism and has those precious few months to not know, care about or even acknowledge any religion. Atheism requires a basic understanding, apatheism only requires you not give a shit.
I was about to further edit the atheist side description but I do recall many from this site in the same sentence say they are agnostic atheist then follow with I KNOW there are NO GODS!!! WTF?!?
This is an embrace of ignorance even the gnostic atheist usually cannot phathom. As for the rest, I've never set well with dogma and no, I don't care to read your voluminous "proofs" of why there is no god any more than that of a theist.
Also spare me the "it is the theists responsibility to show proof" bull. You too are making a claim of knowledge there is NO WAY you could possibly have, so you're just as responsible for absolute proof. Your air being spewed smells exactly as that of your 'fundamentalist' theist counterparts.
Now excuse me...while some of you are endlessly arguing whether or not a god...gods, goddesses, whatever...exists I may create a few of my own!
Apatheist a great word, rarely used and generally surplanted by agnostisism though it is actually very different.
I really like your point about the “burden of proof”. This bit of legalese should be expelled from usage because there is no burden of proof. The only burden, if there is one, is for each person to look at all the evidence with an open mind. If they do so it is possible that insights or understanding might arise within themselves. Nobody ever really proves anything to another person.
wow....thats a whole lot of "who cares".
@DangerDave probably don't matter, think I'll have a sandwich.
