They’re actually cooked in Greece.
French fries is an American colloquialism. In English, they are called chips.
Mostly here in Canada too.

@puff In the uk my workmate used to beg me to “just say fish and chips, go on” and cracked up laughing when I complied. The other was “Six”. I got fed up with the number if I had to say it to this workmate and just used to say, the number between five and seven.
All good, one of her best mates was a kiwi.
They were discovered in Belgium, still a chuckle.
