Wheel or wool? Or both?

Some years ago, I spun a whole shopping bag of Malamute fur for a woman in a barter affair. DOg hair is like any hair, very, very warm because of the hollow shaft inside the fiber. Also, it smelled like wet dog, no matter how often we washed the yarn. I combined it with a bit of Romney wool to make it easier to spin and knit. The Finnish people spijn a lot of dog hair for their outerware.

I am not so much driven to make stuff from my fiber as how different sheep breeds and other fibers spin up into yarn. For example, I have a large bag of East Friesian Milksheep fleece, still dirty. I grew up on the milk of those sheep, having an allegy to cow's milk.e I have processed the fleece ( washed, carded and spun, I'll probably put it away until inspiration hits me. My big old house it full of wool in all stages of preparation. I consider it insulation against the cold New York weather!

Hair has a smooth, hollow shaft, Wool, has scales that open and close with heat. Hair is eight times warmer that wool. It is harder to spin because it is so slick.

that makes me think about paper. I used to make paper with vegetable fibers, usually cotton, because it wasn't a smooth fiber and they would grasp each other to form the paper. somehow wool don't seem like it would really do that.
