One of my longtime hobbies is proving very valuable in this time of extreme isolation ... tumbling rocks! they're so beautiful when smoothed and all shiny. I start the process in a rotary tumbler, for 4 weeks, then finish in a small vibratory tumbler.

In the pics the polished ones are on the left, and on the right are the rough. The bluish ones are from Botswana and reddish ones from Bahia, Brazil. Nature's bounty 🙂

Great job my grandfather used to tumble rocks and when we went on holidays he always gave us some. When I was quite young I used to bring him rocks to tumble and he would have to explain to me why he could not. (Too small, too fragile etc)

They are beautiful. It the tumbler electric or do you have to do it?

@dede18 How long time do they have to be in the tumbler? I know you are saying 4 weeks but is it continuous?

@dede18 So what do you do with all of them? Because you must have many.

@dede18 That sounds great. Lovely hobby. I love beautiful things, well things that are beautiful to me.

Beautiful! We had Indiana River rock put down for our mulch around our new house and then spent the next 10 years sitting on the grass going through them picking out the unusual/pretty ones! Sooooo calming! 🙂
