New York City mayor announces $827 million in cuts to public education
On Thursday, New York City’s Democratic mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city was making massive budget cuts due to a steep fall in revenue brought about the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the $2 billion in cuts, some $827 million will be cut from the Department of Education (DOE), far more than the $273 million in cuts announced by the DOE on April 7.
{On Saturday, de Blasio announced that further cuts were coming to the city unless federal aid was forthcoming. At his Sunday press conference, Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “If we don’t get federal assistance, you’re looking at education cuts of close to 50 percent in the state of New York, where school districts would only get half of the aid they got from the state last year.”}
So much for federal help New York! Or any other state.
Trump administration escalates war against public education through Wall Street bailout
As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Trump administration is deepening its assault on public education. While starving desperate school districts of the funding needed to offset the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the minuscule amount being provided is through block grants, setting a precedent to further undermine Title I and other needs-based education funding.
Out of the $2.5 trillion package, merely $30.75 billion, or 0.122 percent, is earmarked for public education funding. The misnamed Education Stabilization Fund will provide roughly $17 billion for K-12 education and $14 billion for higher education, with much of the funds liable to go to charter and private schools. Already, Ivy League schools, including Harvard, Cornell and Columbia, have received a combined $34.4 million, despite having endowments totaling $59.13 billion.

It's easy for the tribalist to blame the party in power while they neglect to see it within their own party when its in power. Just look at how they are willing to vote for Joe Biden willing to turn a blind eye to all he has been collaborate in within the same type of policies and crimes Trump has under his belt. Which womanizing girl touching war criminal are you going to vote for?
