The social network for atheists, agnostics & skeptics.

2017 to 2025

Thank you

I really want to thank the members who spent their time on this site. It was really an honor to meet so many of you and hear your stories. The site was for the benefit of the members, and it brought together people like me, looking for a new connection while sorting things out. You were really great people.

Many of you knew me only as “Admin.” My name is Andrew Conru. I started Agnostic.com in 2017, when I was trying to figure out my relationship with religion. Our intention was to build a safe, moderated place where people could talk honestly about religion and belief, and express themselves.

More than 190,000 people joined. You wrote over 700,000 posts and 5 million replies and comments, and started more than 1,300 groups.

After that experience I came back to understanding that religion, and Christianity, is more nuanced, more of a state of mind. I even started going back to church for a while, and I’m happy to call myself a Christian. I try to live my life better accordingly. I’m still agnostic about it, but I understand religion more, and it’s more beautiful than I thought.

After a while, running the site became too much alongside everything else, and reality and time moved forward. By 2025 it had grown quiet. I hope the site has helped people, as a safe, moderated place to express yourself.

It was a lovely time. Maybe someday we’ll build another one.

Andrew Conru
