Good conversation is very important to me. I am so appalled at how it has become the norm for people to lash out at each other. Listening to another's thoughts is vital. With that said, I do not think I will ever understand the Trumpets. And I find it unbelievable that so many professed Christians really aren't.
I've lived in 2 river cities/towns and enjoy the calming effect of walking along the waterfront. I have to admit to being more of a small city girl than a country girl, although I do love enjoying the beauty of nature. And honestly, I really wish I had a flower garden.
I am creative by nature and have worked in an interior design business, women's clothing design business, and also have had an art gallery. I've made it a point to collect local artists' works.

There is a movie that just came out called Sorry To Bother You. It's about a telemarketing company. The movie is over the top but if you really get involved with the underlying current it is what companies are doing to employees over and over again. And the end result was something totally off the wall on one hand but the underlying idea is employers treating employees like animals. Corporate America is so powerful we are just cogs in their machine with no value except to push until we wear out.

Is religion used as an opium to the people or as useful means of domination for politicians?
AmelieMatisse comments on Jul 15, 2018:
I think you can be a believer in Christianity and still be intelligent. It is those who believe but no longer or maybe ever, bought into critical thinking. I believe that politicians play into the fundamentalists viewpoints. Also there are some non believers who have very odd political beliefs. It is a very mixed bag

AmelieMatisse comments on Jul 15, 2018:
I think we are all at the end of our wits with everything happening in this country. Dialog has stopped. It is a nastiness culture that is underwritten from the top down. I believe it started when Obama was President and guys like Mitch McConnell went on the offensive. Hell, we've been dealing with Trump ever since his birther comments and when he found he had an audience for that he just kept it up. Millions voted for a guy who made racial slurs, made fun of disabled people, spoke trash about McCain, made vulgar comments about women. People voted for a foul mouthed bully because somehow it made them feel strong. Getting rid of Trump is only the tip of the ice berg. We have to somehow, as a society get rid of that mind set.

I really enjoyed this post. Have You read David Eagleman's book The Brain? He speaks to a lot of this. It’s No Accident Americans Are Still Broke in a Booming Economy - VICE
AmelieMatisse comments on Jul 11, 2018:
The fact that unemployment is down is very misleading. Once you stop receiving unemployment benefits and you are still not working, you no longer are counted on the rolls of unemployed. Also people are working in jobs where they earn less money and a lot of people with kids need a full time and part time job to make ends meet. People are working later into the age where they could retire - not any more! I'm really discouraged with all of these things in this country and what big businesses are allowed to do. And then you have Trump saying that wages need to go down so that companies can hire more people. WTF??!!

I became interested in meditation, yoga, and Buddhist philosophy a long time ago. About 15 years ago I took a course in photography from the Buddhist monk, John Daido Loori, Roshi at Mt Tremper Monastery (Zen Mountain Monastery) in upstate NY. After this I became quite serious about my link to Buddhism. I belong to Oryoki Zendo in New Cumberland, PA and for a time was president of their board. I believe that the philosophy and meditation have greatly helped me navigate many rough patches.
