Did Jesus exist?
Amisja comments on May 7, 2018:
I don't like the wording of your poll, however having looked at the academic evidence, it is clear to me that there was once a political agitator, charismatic orator and all-round reasonable guy called Jesus. Not a magic baby, son or god or super hippy but he definitely existed.

'I am so sorry for your loss', 'I am here for you' (and mean it) or 'You are in my constant thoughts'. Its the living who need the supports and prayers are going to do exactly zero to help. Throwing a load of washing in for them, making them a cup of tea or hoovering the carpet helps more.

How would Christians feel if when they get to heaven. almighty God is a Muslim?

That is so beyond ridiculous where to even start...oh go on then.. 1. There is no god 2. Islam and Christianity are manmade 3. Allah and the Christian god are the same entity..they follow one of the Abrahamic religions. 4. How would a bunch of agnostics even hazard a guy as to what Christians would do in a purely hypothetical, nonsensical situation 5. There is no god

FGM is not as much of a problem in those countries as in sub-Saharan Africa and it is definitely a cultural issue rather than a religious one. More recently it has been seen in Syria as a affectation by D'eash. This has been widely condemned by most Islamic leaders. http://gh.bmj.com/content/2/4/e000467 Forced marriage is more common in majority muslim countries but also in other closed sects like the Frumm Jewish communities, Jo Wits and Brethern communities. Forced marriages also affects males and I have personally cared for many male victims of this practice. Rape is ubiquitous and needs to end as do acid attacks, they are cruel attempts to assert power. Women are not as safe as men, anywhere. This is a challenge that we need to address. We simply cannot sit on our laurels because we live in the west.

This is a bereavement, it hurts like hell. Worse in some ways because they are still alive. My ex remarried and I was trully devastated. You simply have no choice, hold on tight it won't be fun but you can find fun in your memories and in a new single life. You will eventually come to terms with this loss and you will move on. Be super super gentle with yourself, cry when you need, stay around friends, do nice things for yourself and keep your heart open. You will get through this and you will smile again. My love goes out to you...I genuinely mean that xxx

The Better God Question
Amisja comments on Apr 29, 2018:
We needed a god when we didn't understand the complexities and randomness of nature. Then, when societies developed to the point were they could release a few people from constant toil, we allowed them to study the nature of this entity. These individuals created this capricious god in order to fit their needs. Things changed in the NT and again in the Q'oran but god would still come and smite you if you didn't do what the priest chaps told you. (Which meant usually feed them and let them wear gold and give them a tithe of your money...yeah sounds legit). This god was never benevolent and kind. It was never about love or goodness it was about POWER and CONTROL. In fact there is tons of evidence that Neanderthals and Denisovans were perfectly kind to each other without any evidence of supernatural intervention. One cannot say god must exist because there has always been one. Humans like their biological cousins are hardwired to care for each other. Thats how we manage to rear such demanding, squishy infants. God is irrelevant

Hi every one
Amisja comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Hello, good afternoon
What's your opinion of assisted suicide?
Amisja comments on Apr 29, 2018:
This can be very difficult as there are so many variables. Could I watch a loved one suffer? Probably not but then would I be like Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights and prefer a suffering Catherine to no Catherine? Analgesia and new technologies mean that even people in agony can find some relief. Technologies are meaning locked in people are on the verge of being able to communicate and I think within the next decade will be able to return to being actively involved in their life. The other issue is that despite every safeguard we can never be sure that granny isn't being ever so slightly influenced because the grandchild is financially over burdened and care of granny just adds to that. It is a slippery slope so I say I am against assisting someone to end their life. As a mental health nurse in practice, I encountered suicidal people all the time. I have no thoughts on people ending their own life, that is their choice.

Issues with incest in the Bible
Amisja comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Prof Christina Hayes talks about this at length. Basically what she says is the OT is a set of books with a group of stories about flawed, damaged and basically normal for the time. Incest was not unknown (still isn't). Depends how close but certainly first cousins marry in UK. This isn't a particular problem until you get inter-generational first cousin partnerships over several generations. The point of the OT is that it is veiwed as a morality lesson which it isn't. If you see it as what it is, a group of stories about a group of rather tawdry people, it makes a lot more sense. As for Lot's daughters. If you review the story, the daughters believed they were never going to see anyone again ever. They believed they were locked in with their father as the only possible sperm donor. Its very yuck, lets be honest but so is a lot of historical literature.

I don't know what happened, but bloody hell you deserve much much better than this. Seriously this man is a privileged entitled creep, but for his money, he would likely be in prison. The way he treats people, women particularly, is utterly shameful. I don't believe he even believes half the stuff he says himself, he says it fot his own engrandisement. I simply do not understand how that utterly despicable creature got into power. I do understand that he won on the belief that he would take away power from who people believed were a priviledged class. What he actually did was take power away from a group of highly experienced knowledgeable people and gave it to a supremely priviledged class. He has people believing that all the organisations providing checks and balances against any corrupt power (erm him) are corrupt themselves. He claims all of Obama's successes as his own all the while trying to destroy his legacy. Please please please vote him out, impeach him, imprison him. You are worth so much better than that.
