We all believe in evidence-based science, and that's why we're agnostic/atheist, right?
BirdMan1 comments on Feb 28, 2020:
If the "evidence isn't really true," then it was only mistaken for evidence, in the first place. Recognizing that error is one of the ways science grows.

@ExculpatoryLover I have a red pill I'd like to give to the Empty Orange! No, we certainly do not know everything, and skepticism is valuable, but it needs to be honest skepticism, not made up fairy tales posited as alternative facts. I would not be one to call someone with evidence based counter arguments a denier. There are physicists out there who are working with a hypothesis that all matter is conscious, called Panpsychism. They are not presenting it as fact, and I do not have a problem with them, though I am quite skeptical of the idea.

I just finished reading "In Search of Bill Clinton: A Psychological Biography-," by John D.
Marionville comments on Feb 21, 2020:
And what was your take on the conclusions in the book?
BirdMan1 replies on Feb 22, 2020:
In a major way, the conclusion is that, as with us all, is that, as Blood Sweat and Tears titled one of their early albums, "The Child is Father to the Man." We are all hugely influenced by our family-of-origin's dynamics, not just our genetic legacy, and Clinton's birth into a vey dysfunctional family, and how he dealt with this dysfunction, (Which led to his brother's early death due to alcoholism) unconsciously runs his life. Yes, into adulthood, as is the case with many of us. His hypomanic personality has hurt him, as with Monica, but has also allowed him to use his legitimately heartfelt Christianity (some people really live it)to try to save the world, grandiose as it sounds. Grandiosity is typical in hypomanics. (Gartner used his Arkansas interviews to, it appears, determine who Bill's real father was: a very intelligent, hypomanic physician. This fellow, if Gartner's conclusion is accurate, gave Bill his immense intelligence and both he and Virginia, Bill's mother, gave him the hypomania.) That is why he is following Mandela's "order" to tackle AIDS in Africa. Having spent a 51 year career as a psychotherapist I have no difficulty accepting the author's perspective, but one need not have any special training to follow Gartner's line of thinking.
I just finished reading "In Search of Bill Clinton: A Psychological Biography-," by John D.
snytiger6 comments on Feb 22, 2020:
Did he actually ever speak to Clinton? I don't bother with books written about people where the author never actually spake to the person (assuming they were still alive when the book was written).
BirdMan1 replies on Feb 22, 2020:
The author did not interview Clinton, as he does not give interviews. But, he did interview people who knew him in childhood, people who knew his mother very well. His mother, and her admittedly "Wild" way of treating life, became something of a major model for him. The author interviewed a wide swath of people who knew, and worked with Clinton, over his entire political career. He travelled, in 2007, to Africa to see for himself what the Foundation was doing, saw Clinton with Nelson Mandela, something of his father figure, and did eventually meet him, there, in Zanzibar. The Foundation, and Clinton being a former president, gets around all sorts of red tape, and inaction in Africa, and has been able to help set up numerous AIDA related programs there, quickly. He sets up the programs so that they become part of the governments' health plans, which makes the gov't people look good (better than thy are). This arrangement works to speed things along amazingly. Clinton is seen by this psychiatrist/author as a Hypomanic personality (the author had written a book specifically about that personality structure before his interest in Clinton), which helps, to explain his energy, drive and sexual addiction.

Who is "They?" the same people who decided that Hillary was running the child sex ring? I've heard that rumor, as well, and do not give it any credence. Ken Starr, was, illegally, associated with a group of right-wing collaborators who had, reportedly, then a huge dislike to Clinton because of his enmity towards racism in Arkansas, saw him as a traitor to the Good Old South. This group ran a smear campaign known as "The Arkansas Project," funded by one Richard Mellon Sciafe, who was a billionaire, with "...a long history of funding right-wing covert operations going all the way back to the Nixon administration," and the watergate break-in. This is what Hillary, apparently accurately called a "vast right-wing conspiracy." The "faux" Whitewater" scandal was birthed by these people, particularly Sciafe.
Moron is an understatement.

@nogod4me In regard to the young woman, or anyone in her shoes, when one is "living in denial" that one is not lying when he/she makes a claim from that perspective, because the denial helps to create their reality. The young woman would not have come up "guilty" on a lie detector, because she would not have the interior emotional reaction that triggers "guilty." That is not to say she was not saying an untruth, just like someone who REALLY believes that the Earth is flat. Likewise, the fool who told me, the other day, that "I like what Trump has done for the country," was not lying. No matter how imbecilic we may think that statement was. Willful ignorance can easily get under my skin, but I believe it is just another psychological defense mechanism, as denial is. @genessa, @nogod4me No, of course belief does not justify, or validate the lie, but the point is that the teller of the lie may not (and I'm not saying all the time) experience it as a lie. I saw "Shen Yun" the other day. It was done beautifully, but part of the agenda, involving the sustaining of ancient, 5,000 year old Chinese culture, in the face of the Communists, was the clear, and repeated statement that "Atheism and Evolutionism are lies." As I've stated in a post about this, this statement is a lie. But, if their belief system holds this belief, their saying that these are lies does not mean that they are intentionally lying. The "information" they are trying to impart is invalid, but they really believe it.
