I have always had a funny feeling about Australia.
Budgie comments on Feb 9, 2021:
Given this is an agnositc site we are Aussie's (yes we do exist) who are sceptical about the imaginary sky fairy that different cultures create as a basis of their cults. The photo is of me with a little wallaby that was being looked after by a carer when her mother was killed by a car.
You know this has to be true!
Budgie comments on Feb 9, 2021:
So true when I e-mail in for work to tell them I am unwell they say they know how sick I am by the bad spelling and grammar. The worse it is the worse I am. One day I should send in a message all transposed to the line above or below the home line and see if they send an ambulance.
Time to post some music whilst I sip a glass of Merlot and wait for dinner to cook.

AR Lawmakers Pass Bill Forcing Women to Call “Pro-Life” Hotline Before Abortion | Hemant Mehta |...
Budgie comments on Feb 8, 2021:
So ring them. Hi forced birthing association how can I help you? I have to ring you which I have done, I am getting an abortion and there is nothing you can do to stop me. I just wanted you to know that your approach to women's health is one that causes more and more women to fall pregnant and need abortions. So you are in fact the one responsible for the abortion I am going to be having. I hope you sleep well at night. Goodbye hang up. You have rung you have spoken so now go and do what you want to do.

Budgie comments on Feb 5, 2021:
Would she be happier if it was the liver tissue of a 3 month old (how can one be aborted after birth) female. Does the race matter at all? I would put these questions to her. The specifics is an attempt to make the statement seem true.
Do any of you guys have moments of doubt like maybe there is something.?
Budgie comments on Feb 4, 2021:
As my mother was in hospital after suffering a heart attack some religious nutter came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go and pray, (at this point we had been told my mother's chance of recovery was about 10%) I turned to him and told him if there was a god then that god could damn well prove it through my mother recovering, if that happened I would turn up to church every Sunday for the rest of my life. He said that it does not work like that I told him to tell his god that saving the life of one woman would give him a devout follower for eternity and that tiny thing was all he had to do. My mother died two days later. I have no doubts, when I see truly evil people getting what they want and really good people suffering, when I hear of catholic priest abusing children and not having to face their crimes. I have no doubt. If god exists then he/she/it is a complete bastard and I want nothing to do with it.
Sorry if this isn't the right place, but I needed to vent about something.
Budgie comments on Feb 3, 2021:
Does your school have a school wide positive behavior program? If not and you are there all of the time, in the breaks head out to the playgrounds, engage with the students in an informal setting. Talk to them about their interests etc. It will be tough. They will resist. Just be present and talk about normal things with them. If you get the same class again be honest with them, when they come in speak in a normal tone and comment on what happened and how you felt about their behaviour, talk them up as a group, comment on lots of positive things about them and how their behaviour that day let them down. Explain to them that it was not your intent to call down the cops on them (is that what a school resource officer is?) If your school has no school wide positive behaviour program then organise a reward system of your own. Yes it might cost you a bit of money to buy rewards ie a voucher for a cd or something that is appropriate for the students you are teaching, keep a tally of points that they get for doing the correct thing and give the award out once a day, week, month as you see fit. I scored a new student and every second word was fuck, I threw out our schools rewards tokens to the rest of the class for sitting nicely, opening their book, and as soon as he did the right thing he scored them too. We all ignored the fucks and by the end of the week he was barely saying them. If you can get a few of the students who are leaders or respected to engage with you the others will follow. Talk to the teachers about what they find works for their classes. Some days can be tough and really test your confidence. Good luck with it.

Budgie comments on Jan 31, 2021:
Here is what to do in this situation, turn up your car stereo really loud, if they come near crank it up higher. My Dad was working (staff) at a mine site where people were striking (he is not allowed to strike) and they were outside harassing the staff members and the apprentices (also not allowed to strike) who had to turn up to work each day. Dad had speakers on the outside of his car and each time he drove past they were blasted with brass band or classical music. One night some sebastian came and cut the wires to his speakers, took us about an hour to fix. Next time he drove past he cranked the volume up even more. For the record my brother an apprentice had his car stopped by them and the started to rock it. He was yelling through the window (opened a crack) that he had no choice but to turn up if he didn't he would be sacked and lose his apprenticeship. They just called him a scab, mind you they were not doing much as the men that would train them were on strike so mainly they cleaned and repaired. Some of the men spat on the cars driving past.

Budgie comments on Jan 30, 2021:
So as far as being sensitive I got all weepy reading the comments and thinking of my past pets, the death of each one cut agonizingly deeply and tore me up. I don't have any dogs at the moment but that is more due to lifestyle and the fact I am currently sharing a house with my brother who has three cats. I have chickens and one is nearing the end of her life. I have built a new coop area for her so that the other will not pick on her and she potters around in there. I know that one morning when I go out there she may be dead but I hope it is in her sleep and painless. So while I get torn up at their deaths I think about their lives and the love they give during it. My dogs have all been rescues as are my brother's cats. If we had not taken on these animals then the cats would have been ferals or dead, the dogs may well have ended up with horrible people as they were being listed at rottweiller crosses and lots of people up here get them for pig hunting and treat them appallingly. (they were not rottweiller crosses) Attached is a photo of them. I had them for 15 years and when I had to make that horrible decision I lay with them holding them close it was painful but they had a great life and were wonderful companions.

So my 6 year old son has been playing with the neighborhood kids.
Budgie comments on Jan 15, 2021:
Hi, I am a Special Education Teacher I use social stories not just for children on the spectrum. They are a really good way to explain a situation and how someone else might be feeling, you can even write them with your son so that he is processing the situation as you write it. A search for social stories will get you a plethora of pages so here is one to start off with. https://www.autismparentingmagazine.com/social-stories-for-autistic-children/ I was teaching 15 year old last year and we wrote out social stories to match their goals and for one boy it was following a direction so when he started to ark up we just grabbed his social story and put it in front of him, because he had written it he knew what was in it and would generally calm back down and while still annoyed would do what was requested of him. So for the situation of the ball something like I like to play baseball with the other kids. I like to catch the ball. We have to work as a team. (this could be a whole other story on how to be part of a team) That means I can not always catch the ball. If I run from pitcher he/she gets sad and the game does not work. The other team could win. If I throw the ball to the pitcher then they are happy and my team could win. Use pictures to illustrate the parts of the story, if you are working with a speech therapist then talk to them about the level of the language to use. Read the story to him before he goes out to play with the kids, heck read it to all of the kids so they get the idea of what he is trying to learn, if they encourage the behaviour they want he will do it more often. Good Luck

Budgie comments on Jan 13, 2021:
When I first learned of the Madgalene Laundries and the atrocities committed in them I was stunned, then piecing together unspoken bits from my father's catholic side of the family I found out that his twin sister had been sent to one to have her first baby and that afterwards her mother told her she should marry the first man who would take her as she was spoiled goods. Luckily she married a lovely man who cared deeply for his family worked hard and provided well for them. Also very musical and I remember him from all of the nights he played Beatle songs as well as some oldies with my Grandfather and Father and eventually my brother and his son joining in. The music gene gave me a wide berth. The same grandmother who HAD to marry my grandfather due to the fact she had gotten pregnant with my father and his twin, and who had a priest stand at the end of her bed after the birth of my uncle (he had juvenile cataracts and was blind in one eye) and told her this was god's punishment for conceiving children out of wedlock. Now atrocities by the catholic cult no longer surprise me and I no longer expect them to acknowledge nor make reparations as they are soulless and evil to the core.

What a bitch, she had no right to send the message, in Australia she may well lose her job over that. But now at least all the students in her care know what a self rightous bigot she is and can avoid her as much as possible. I hope parents make sure their children are not in her classes. Her apology did not in any way say that she was sorry for what she wrote just that it caused an uproar. It is a fake apology.

How a cult started by a failed writer got any kind of legal recognition is beyond me. How a cult got the right to overrule the law of the country is also puzzling if this was a muslim woman and the imam said that sharia law must prevail what would happen then? They should turn up sit there and say he raped me he raped me he raped me until it is all over then allow the police and courts to actually do their job. This is abuse of the victim, we have all seen what happens when cults are allowed to police the illegal behaviour of their members, the victim gets punished and the criminal is allowed off scot free. Sickening.

Religion has no place in education. If parents want to indoctrinate their children with a cult they do it on their own dime and in their own time. I bet the materials cost a packet to buy. For someone to say they believe teachers will provide a comprehensive education as it is only an opinion forgets the fact that in those small communities the teacher is part of the cult and will do what the cult says. They should not be able to make changes to the Education Department curriculum.

All I can say is that there are going to be lots of changes coming up especially when you get to Uni. Some friends may drift away, some may and then return later, keep your options open, do not turn your back on any of them but let them go if they want. Do not take it personally the person you are going to be in 10 years will have some very different views to you right now on a whole range of issues. If your friend feels the need to be away from you then tell her you will respect it but will be there for her any time she wants to connect. Your Mum is probably thinking about how hard it is for you to be part of the wider community when you do not hold the same views as that community. The same way that parents of LGBT kids probably told them to fake it as being different was going to be too hard and they would not get accepted. I am an adult and a vegetarian and some people (mainly work not friends) still tell me (when we are organising an evening out) that it would be easier if I just ate like everyone else. So this need to have everybody the same does not change it is a cross we have to bear, or a bear we have to cross (sorry being silly) ;}
