Welcome Lisa! Hang in there...you're among many with similar life experiences. Find the forums and friends you need here, so long as they are helpful to you. I suggest doing the same in your community as well. Gratefully, I deliberately went through my outing at an early age. It cost me the respect of most of my family but I'd never change a thing. Still, most of my friends and associates are theists. A large percentage of most faiths will simply "agree to disagree". Deluded as they may be, not all of them are bad people.
What's the Difference Between Agnosticism and Atheism? | HowStuffWorks
DangerDave comments on Apr 22, 2019:
What does FTA mean? I even checked the Urban Dicionary...anyway... To elaborate further on @Novelty's reply, here are the diagrams that describe the 4...or 5, schools of thought on the subjects of ( a )gnositcism and ( a )theism. By definition, an agnostic atheist is someone who doesn't claim belief in any god (or gods) but doesn't claim to know for certain. By this mentality I've been attacked by the gnostic atheists here in several ways, one being the "you are an atheist too" by the above description. WRONG. I discovered I'm of a true middle ground. I'm an apatheist, meaning I could care less about any arguments of whether there are or are not god or gods or... Hence the 2nd diagram I edited because I feel it more appropriately represents the divides between our belief systems. Of course it was a gnostic atheist who came up with the "strong" and "weak" statuses in the 1st. I've found there is nothing weak about admitting you don't, and can't, know. You'll also often hear we are all born "implied" atheist, as if a baby could take such a intellectual and philosophical stance. Gnostics of both varieties cause a LOT of problems. At best, gnostic atheists are a burden to other nonbelievers as these people claim to have all knowledge of everything, belittle others and even go so far as to evangelize their positions. At least they're not declaring "holy wars" or trying to dictate morality (as much) as do their theist counterparts.
I have a question.
DangerDave comments on Apr 18, 2019:
I concur, so it appears you have 100% of the group's support so far! I have little knowledge of St John's Wort but I have personal experience with psych meds and high CBD marijuana. The latter works best for my body pains as well as a mood stabilizer. Various THC hybrids work best to stimulate me enough to function, something I can't say for the meds or CBD exclusively. I'm taking the psych meds as a requirement of my Medicaid treatment plan though, while I feel little results from them, I report they "seem to be working fine" to avoid having to take higher dosages. I'm of the mind the best treatments for numerous conditions, particularly those of the 'herbal' variety, are being repressed by Big Pharma. They have shown us time and again they value profit over people.

DangerDave comments on Apr 16, 2019:
NAILED IT!!! I take it from the stance of an apatheist however...while I find the existence of Geebush (and crew) highly unlikely, far moreso than most concepts of a supreme being (intelligence, creator, etc, etc), there is NO WAY I'd worship such a selfish and destructive deity even if I were to choose a means of such worship in the quagmire of their many "only way" sects. I 'worship' life...the only one I know and on the "path of least resistance" presented me: that of an artist. Love me, hate me...it matters little if at all. Though I still struggle with it, at 60 I've finally come to the conclusion this is what I am, for better and for worse, regardless of what this society, and reality, expects of me. So, we UNBELIEVERS can reclaim, and have in my opinion, the more esoteric (and functional) definitions. What we don't know we can imagine with our only limits being our individual and collective imaginations.

I got it more times than I can count in our largely southern baptist public school, we won't even go into the years I was forced to attend Sunday school... It's rarely that easy, from a personal or professional standpoint. As a counselor in a year long in-house program for Atlanta street kids, even the staff psychiatrist bemoaned having to "graduate" kids just beginning to respond to therapy. Myself, I'm just overcoming the "CONFORM" message from society that's been hounding me all my life. Of course I've had to conform to survive, though I've rarely thrived. (My late 8 year tour I began at about 50 a notable exception.) So I'm deemed insane by an insane society. I can deal with that.

DangerDave comments on Mar 31, 2019:
You've presented some very important concepts I feel all of us in the unbelievers' community should be aware of, at least in theory. For us to come to terms with the problems caused by theists we must first understand why their religions (and interpretations thereof) cause the problems. I'd found this searching for my previous essay on Omnism. This is the only other discussion of it to be found in the search (though I added the tag and a few others for you!) I'm not sure when you posted this (@Admin are there dates on posts and, if not, could it be done? I know I ask for a lot but...) but I'm very happy you did. I'm of the mind WE can change the world...but only first with a clear understanding of what it is we must change.

I don't brag (much) but I'm a Mensan, short of signing the paperwork. Now in the early stages of dementia, I don't know or care about it. I have (as I had in college) more important things to do I DO care about. (Besides, the nominal fees would have come out of my party money.) Some very logical and reasonable conclusions: **We nonbelievers don't fit the typical bell curve on intelligence.** This is well established in research and it only stands to reason: we generally want more information on what most would just take for granted. That factor alone *generally* makes us more intelligent than our sheeple counterparts. (link) That being said, I quit college after my first glorious year of a 4.0 in Chem Tech to take three years to decide if I really wanted a career in performing arts. After having some of the best three years of my life, I returned to college to study Music with a big hit on my GPA, largely due to having to "unlearn" all the "non-classical" techniques I'd picked up and committed to motor memory on several instruments. But I digest. I was very depressed as a student of the sciences in these simple realizations: **there is too much that is already known for any one person to 'know it all', to even attempt to do so would be impossible as well as useless because so much is often updated and (as yet) humankind as a whole has a VERY far way to go to completely understand the machinations of the uni/omniverse.** We too must beware declaring our opinions are facts. Some facts are these: **those who do declare to have complete knowledge (on any particular topic) 99% (+/- 1%) of the time don't; these are those among us who are our LEAST intelligent; and, as their gnostic theist counterparts, are much more susceptible to suffering from the Dunning–Kruger effect** Spanx for the question!

Another question. Sorry lol How do you define relationship?
DangerDave comments on Mar 28, 2019:
ummm, I wouldn't call my ladies 'fwb's anymore than I'd call them 'fuck buddies'. I'm a polyamorist...my late teen to 20-something 'loves' are all over the US. I keep in touch with a few but, out of consideration to them, I don't complain when they cut it off. Usually that's due to a *real* relationship but I'll love each forever for what we shared when we shared it. LTR's of that variety are rare in Las Vegas...there is the ever typical monogamous majority and the party crowd I tend to follow as an artist AND polyamorist. Seeing my last LTR lasted 3 years and REALLY crashed and burned mine now last perhaps 3 months...but I'll always cherish 2 2/3 years of marvelous memories from the one I thought might be 'the one' Honestly, I was hoping for a different kind of 'one hit wonders' when I moved to Vegas but I'm adjusting...and very happy!

DangerDave comments on Mar 21, 2019:
Absolutely. ( A )gnosis applies to knowledge ( even sounds like 'know' without the 'a' ) and ( A )theist describes the belief system, with the 'a' in both meaning 'non'. Therefore, an agnostic atheist doesn't claim knowledge of deities but assumes there are none. I, being an apatheist, could care less! Oh, and beware Gnostics of any types. They're generally 'know it alls' and very, very boring when they're not very, very angry! The previous comment(er) is a prime example.

How do I find a type of group?

For now, I'll leave this right here... ***Tales’*** **Conflict Resolution System** Conflict is resolved very simply using a base 100 system, with PCs deducting one point per level. The GM chooses a number between 1 and the deducted number, but not randomly. The easier the task, the closer the number is to the median number. Ex: Arveth dePhoenix @phxbillcee (lvl 5) posts ‘swings sword at fighter 72’. With a 95 base, knowing this is a medium easy task he states 72. The GM chose 84. This is a ‘hit’ but with minor effect to his opponent, such as a flesh wound. Bonuses may be assigned for thoughtful and creative attempts. Had Arveth instead said “feints left, stabs at the fighter’s right side” his attack might result in a deeper wound with his opponent losing his next turn. There is a base 25 chance of Critical Fail with increasingly greater negative impact to the player the greater the difference is. CFs also gains XP for level advancement. Hey, if you don’t try, you don’t learn! Ex: If Arveth had chosen 25, with a difference of 59, the GM would determine a major CF. Might miss with his sword stuck in a tree, or worse, breaks it! Critical ‘Hits’ (or successes) occur when the player chooses a number within 1 of the GM’s number, plus one for each 5 PC levels. Guessing the number exactly results in a Critical Success. If a CS occurs to a combatant (or lock, lore check, etc) of equal or lower level it is a killing blow. Ex: If Arveth had chosen 82 he could move his next target, having completely disabled his opponent, perhaps slashing his neck. Experience Points (XP) : The PC gains XP by ATTEMPTING any tasks requiring a level of expertise be it combat, stealth, magick usage, etc, etc...though little or none for very simple tasks (starting a fire, opening an unlocked door, etc, etc). To facilitate game play, XP is not tallied but determined by the GM based on player participation. Levels are assigned by the GM based on collective XP. Just as levels on agnostic.com, levels will be increasingly difficult to achieve as the PC progresses. There is no harm in asking the GM about your level advancement. He is human too and has designed this system to facilitate simple conflict resolution so it doesn’t interfere with the story line.

I do, mostly online now. Here, not so much but increasingly...no plugs so I'll just say other websites. I plan to be proud of myself today. I'm hitting the Arts District to play my lute both for tips, see my people and recruit some new act leads. Sadly I can't *teleport* to Europe. At least that's where my graphic arts are much more popular. So why hang around here? To state the obvious, I'm a nonbeliever reaching out to others who are the same...and besides the daily fellowship, I might just find my act lead here...close enough philosophically AND geographically to be my act lead AND pass by any awkward dogmatic hurdles!
I DO believe this: to talk incessantly about something is to give it life, in this case totally ...

I care to differ and I strongly suggest you go to "Learn About Agnosticism" from this website and search for any other definitions. There's your "homework", here's my take as an agnostic apatheist and spiritual humanist. One, you're in the wrong group. We agnostics do not say there are deities but we don't say there couldn't be. I know I create them myself in fantasy literature as well as graphic and performance arts. This, however, does not make me a theist. Beyond any metaphysical connotations, I do not worship these (or any) gods. As an apatheist I could care less. You...may want to sit down for this...are approaching SCIENCE!!! as YOUR deity, making you by definition a gnostic atheist. I also use the terms *fundamentalist* and *dogmatic atheist.* Science is not infallible and, for those who follow it as you do, it limits the openness to new ideas which actually creates scientific inquiry. You really need to consider this if you wish to remain in this group. While I could take more time away from my many metaphysical arts to argue with you this is NOT the forum for it...and, in the end, I really don't care (to) !

**The Basicks of Magick** Herein is the starter set, less those I've removed created by past players, as a basic guide to spellcraft. While Basicks was an intentional misspell, I delineate magic and magick with different meanings. While stage magic such as simple card tricks, sleight of hand and such, actual magick is, as described, is the result of the caster manipulating nature to achieve a desired effect. Of course, these are not mutually exclusive as anyone who's seen Chris Angel levitate several stories into the air will attest. So to refine the definition of magick further, it can any series of actions which alters the target's perception or physical nature, however briefly. Hence writers practice magick. Doctors, lawyers, artists of all types...the list goes ever on. Now it's my turn. You've come by the following fragment of this book by any means we agree your character could access it. Using this as a basis of your magick you might seek out new spells, or create some of your own! We'll start with spells which would work in our current reality. Depending on how our mutual story unfolds, we are very likely to enter a reality where you'll have much more freedom in your craft. So...happy spelling...errr...crafting!

DangerDave comments on Mar 13, 2019:
That's the question for this site, isn't it? I have a VERY liberal view of porn...it happens at the point of insertion. Though it runs against current societal norms, I don't consider an erection or a wet vagina porn. These are beautiful human conditions and indeed a necessity of our procreation. We all remain victims of Victorian principles, an entirely theist concept.

Spiritual or atheist? More nonbelievers are saying ‘both.’ - CSMonitor.com
DangerDave comments on Mar 13, 2019:
How about spiritual and apatheist?!? I go to all kinds of realms of my own creation but all the gods there I also created. How do I do it? I don't care...and to somehow 'know' would be meaningless. Yes, there is something definitely 'spiritual'...otherworldy and delightfully intangible about it all. Some discount any paranormal phenomena. I relish it, even knowing most is bunk and the rest is somehow completely natural phenomenon. For instance, I became well studied in possession at a young age (yeah, I was a weird kid) and even then found the similarity to speaking in tongues intriguing. As well; the cross-cultural, different gods or the same worshipped differently, the similarities are greater than the differences. I will agree to a degree with my dogmatic atheist counterparts that this involves, at least in part, some type of psychosis or temporary insanity. But to say with certainty "yes, that's all there is to it" negates further study of the phenomena and the underlying principles involved. Still, I can say with a degree of certainty that any actual or even total understanding of these collective ocurrences would be as meaningless to those who experience them, be they those possessed or (and especially) the exorcists, as I knowing where my creativity comes from. I was in already in college when I decided to pursue these lofty goals of understanding was, dare I say, not in the stars. Still, when I wasn't bogged down in the tremendous requirements of an orchestral education student, I'd visit those realms...and make them my own. Why? How? Don't know, don't care. All I know is so far it's been a helluva ride. https://youtu.be/rxwRzW6ehAU
