I can understand this female aging very well...I am one! My appearance worries me, it is all I have before I interact with anyone. If I am sloppy or haggard, I feel that I want be taken seriously, so I make an effort to be neat. I exercise often and stay interested in people and nature and that keeps me nurtured. But, there are times, that my mind looses it’s place in the world and I will have to step up to the plate and take action. So far my efforts keep me grounded, even when I become a bit lost! And, I can say that I am more than just an aging body. I do have some wisdom to pass on...

Does anyone else feel its harder to stop ritualistic manners or superstitious thoughts than it was ...

Sorry to hear that you are in a bad space just now. I suppose a lot of us have been exactly where you find yourself...stressed and in overload and wondering if it is all worth it. First I would like to suggest that if you have just one person that accepts you as you are...share with that person how lowly you are feelings right now. Your story and feelings matter and if you will share them, someone will care about you, and that will help you feel more empowered. I have done this enough times, that I don’t feel the least bit embarrassed over it. And apparently the people who come to me... feel ok about it too. It sounds like your ‘hurting part,’ has temporarily taken over. Ask yourself what else that you can do...that will make life more manageable for you at this moment I have to do this and it has kept me together, up to this point! You/me...we all have a place in the ‘big picture,’ as long as we are alive on this earth. So let up the pressure on yourself...and take on one thing at a time and you will soon have a handle on what is weighing you down. I think it is more about working out those feelings, rather than the absence of them! Your moral compass is well and intact. You recognized, what you felt...and not wanting to put words in your mouth...you have had to withdraw, from embarrassment or not wanting to rain on another person’s happiness or both. I have often felt the same as you stated and then I worked through my jealousy, (which is really an indication of my own need), and realized that love and caring relationships are not in short supply. And, if I want one, it will happen and if not...I will still be a happy person and can be happy for all others who have found wonderful relationships or any other good fortunes. There is value in celebrating in the good fortunes of others (in spite of your own needs and desires). I wish you good fortunes, ahead!

I have not been in your kind of confused state, and still searching outward, but it seems normal to me. First we see things in a different light from what we first thought, after that we can’t understand how ‘things,’ can be a certain way and support us or anyone else. Standing in uncertainty, takes courage...we cannot see where it will lead us for certain. I had a longer process, reaching my conclusions about god and religion in general and it was not tied up in my sexuality.
