Most deserts make me happy, but I need to stay away from sugar, so I try to avoid it. I will be right over to eat any spare Nutella pie. I live closer than most, so it won't be long.

I have a little bit of hair growing on the top of my head, but it is so fine and blond / grey as to be invisible. I just comb it straight back to keep it out of my eyes.

GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 19, 2018:

Mystery: Who is this?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 17, 2018:
I think the picture is from the film "The Life Aquatic". It is associated with the phrase "Keep Calm and Chive On" (whatever that means) and the Chive website refers to it as BFM (Bill Fucking Murray).

Why do women have to basically spell it out for men in what they want? Why are they so clueless?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 14, 2018:
So if you don't tell me what you want, and therefore I don't know, it is my fault. Good to know.
How successful are people on this site at finding a new partner? I would love to hear stories.

Do you find it attractive dating someone who smokes cigarettes?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 13, 2018:
My wife was a smoker. She had many health issues as a result of it and finally died of lung cancer. That is a terrible way to go. I do not wish to go through that again and I will not date a smoker now.
If you were given the chance, would you like to stay a certain age forever?

Where were you when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 10, 2018:
I was in class at Saint Anthony's in Missoula, Montana in third grade. The message came over the intercom and the nuns started to cry. I actually met him while he was campaigning. We were going to see him speak in Portland, Oregon , I think we were late and he came walking around the corner. My dad shook his hand and said a few words. What impressed me was that he was taller than my dad (what did I know, I was four).
Is there any Terry Pratchett, Robert Rankin, Tom Holt readers out there....
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 8, 2018:
I have almost everything Terry Pratchett wrote, along with many others. I am not familiar with Robert Rankin or Tom Holt. So many authors, so little time.
Someone didn't think this through.

Did any of you see the launch of the Falcon Heavy?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 7, 2018:
I watched it delayed on Youtube. I agree the landing was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen, they made it look easy, and I know it wasn't. I love the Spaceman in the roadster.
Is anyone else a nerd?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 7, 2018:
I'm an engineer, that's almost a nerd all by itself. Only one bookcase? You need to step up your game.
It looks like the new in thing is the Kindle--representing someone being classy and knowledgeable.
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 7, 2018:
When I went to China for a month for business, I knew there would be no way I could take enough reading material, and I did not know if I would be able to buy English language books where I was going. At the time, Kindle did not allow you to get books from the library, so I bought a Nook (Barnes and Noble). This has since changed. One thing I love is the ability to immodestly purchase the sequel at 3 am.
SCIENCE MATTERS Not just during historic rocket launches.
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 7, 2018:
I loved the whole thing. They made the landing of the boosters look easy, and I know it isn't. I loved the spaceman in the car, it looked like the beginning of Heavy Metal.
Do you invest in Bitcoin?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 6, 2018:
No. I don't understand it, and I won't invest in something I don't understand. I may be missing out on THE NEXT BIG THING, but I'm ok with that.

GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 6, 2018:
In the US, the suits would be tossed out. Such a suit would be unconstitutional, and I am fine with that. The law that protects them, also protects me.
Have you ever been told you look like someone famous?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I used to look like Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson. I once got into an argument with Ronnie Montrose. He was convinced we had met before. I'm sure I would have remembered.
Who else loves British comedy ?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 5, 2018:
Love British comedy. I remember discovering Monty Python on PBS when I was at University and have loved it ever since. I recently discovered my library has DVDs of Red Dwarf. It isn't any less dumb now than it was back then. I loved it.
What are you guys reading?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 5, 2018:
In memory of the death of Ursula K. Le Guin, I am again reading Left Hand of Darkness.
Are you good at small talk?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 5, 2018:
Beginning conversation with somebody I don't know is awkward for me, and I don't feel comfortable in social situations with people I don't know. If I can establish some common interest, I seem to be able to hold my own, as long as it isn't too loud, because I have some hearing loss. This rules out most bars.
I got my dna tested to find out my ancestry.
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I went to a talk from somebody who was an atheist Jew. He explained how being Jewish was much more than a religion, it was a culture with long established traditions that are separate from religion. While I had no problem understanding his point, some people were completely confused.
It says I should make a post. But, I'm new and I don't know what to say. So.....hi?

People say that Christmas is a depressing time of year; I think it's valentines. What do you think?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 2, 2018:
When I am not seeing anyone, I find Valentine's pretty easy to ignore. It becomes more of an issue if I am seeing somebody and they have high expectations that I am not aware of.

GeorgeRocheleau comments on Feb 2, 2018:
While there was one time where I am pretty sure it nipped a relationship in the bud, I can't see how it would have worked out anyway. I was only pursuing it in a half hearted way because I was lonely, and it is just as well it ended early.

Are atheists in general, more intelligent than religious people?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 30, 2018:
While I tend to surround myself with intelligent atheists and agnostics, I can't use that as proof that atheists and agnostics are more intelligent. It is just as likely I am surrounding myself with people that think like I do.

How Important is Nudity?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 24, 2018:
Considering how excited everyone gets when a woman breastfeeds or takes her top off, you would think it was the end of civilization or some shit. For me whether you are nude or not is only important if cooking bacon or hiking through deep snow.

Can one of you brilliant minds tell me how the percentage of the heart is determined on this site?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 22, 2018:
For example, you are showing 90%. I went to your profile and clicked on the heart and it displayed this: You're both the right gender for each other. You're looking for at least one of the same things in a relationship. JustLuAnn's relationship status is what you're looking for. Your relationship status is what JustLuAnn is looking for. JustLuAnn's education background is what you're looking for. Your education background is what JustLuAnn is looking for. You both consider yourselves Atheist You both are into Food, Love, Travel and Movies. You both are in typical age ranges for each other JustLuAnn lives too far away from you (974 miles) [0.9] I hope this helps.

Do You Believe The World Will End, Or We Face Global Extinction?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 21, 2018:
Sometime between 1 and 5 billion years from now the Sun will become hot enough to boil the oceans away into space and may expand to the point that the earth is consumed, so if nothing else, that will be the end of life on earth. But I also believe that technological societies are inherently unstable and have to potential to collapse catastrophically. Our society is presently living far beyond the long term carrying capacity of our planet and the coming collapse with leave the natural resources plundered to a level that will prevent us from ever rising again.
After life
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 20, 2018:

Do you think atheists are actively seeking to destroy religion, as many religious people claim?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 18, 2018:
I always find it amusing when I hear about "The Great Atheist Conspiracy" (tm). Atheists, by their nature are leaderless and disorganized, and could barely agree on where to buy lunch, but we are systematically destroying religion. Yup, that's us.

What about the other planets?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 17, 2018:
The bible does not consider life on other planets. When the myths that make up the bible were written down, planets were lights in the sky, not bodies of comparable size to our own world. The bible and most churches solidified their thinking hundreds of years ago, while serious discussions of life on other planets mostly happened in my lifetime.

What is the reason behind creating a Remake of an All Time Classic?
GeorgeRocheleau comments on Jan 16, 2018:
When both the possible rewards and the risks are great, there is a tendency to just do what has been done before. Then if it fails, you can always say "it worked last time". If you do something new and it fails, you may have to return to your previous career in the fast food industry. Movies are usually made with other people's money, it is easier to show the money people something from before and saying, "it is like this, but with more explosions." Now there is no law that says the remake has to suck, but unfortunately, that is usually the case.
Why are you labeling me?
