@Admin, I have a recommendation of change for blocking as it applies to personal profiles vs groups.
HippieChick58 comments on Dec 19, 2019:
If I have someone blocked personally, if they join my group will I be able to see their posts? And if I have blocked them, do I really want to see them in my group? I block people because they don't "play nice." If they can't play nice I don't want them in my group.

I promise that if you don't tell me how to wear my hair, I won't tell you how to wear yours. I don't give a good gosh darn what your hair looks like, as long as it is clean, and your teeth brushed and other personal care items are taken care of. I care deeply about your morals, your intelligence, you care and concern for other humans, for how you treat others especially those that take care of you. I care deeply how you treat animals, and the environment, and the vulnerable. Do what makes YOU happy with your hair, in the long run that is all that matters.

HippieChick58 comments on Dec 16, 2019:
I am sure I have been called a few choice names, which I no longer remember. I have posted more than one controversial post, and learned what a great sisterhood/brotherhood this site can have when there is controversy. I also got blocked by several people and did some of my own blocking. @RavenCT you always had my back. I grew up with mean older brothers, and my dad was no picnic. I no longer let other people define who I am or what I am worth. I don't let the opinions of people I don't know or respect influence my idea of my self worth. It was a hard lesson, and I am thankful I lived long enough to learn it.

Booze weakens our inhibitions, things we'd usually leave unsaid become imperative to get out. There is some truth in drunken discussions, but also a great deal of plausable deniability of our own culpability. And this is a huge reason that I don't drink while my ex is around, and even rarely when my kids are around. Dirty laundry is just that, and your advice was spot on. Not only live in the present, but make peace with your past so it doesn't screw up your present. None of us have mastered perfection yet, and likely never will.

I had a friend who thought his dick was a work of art, and he sent pictures frequently. He was just so proud of it. I tolerated it because I liked chatting with him, he was funny. We had good chemistry. We never met in person because he lived somewhere southern East Coast. But he was a hound dog, and he cheated in every relationship he was in. He just bounced from woman to woman. Something I said pissed him off and he cut off all contact. His loss. I think I told him his dick didn't cut it for me, it wasn't anything special. Men just don't get it.

My family used to do this all the time. The story goes that when Uncle Keith first met Aunt Vera (Vera was mom's sister and Keith was dad's brother) they were hanging doors in the new house for my grandparents. Keith came in and before he saw Vera he said, "so we're danging hoors today." Then he saw Vera, turned beet red and couldn't say a word. Keith and Vera were married over 60 years when Keith passed.

So, you have a carton of milk in the fridge. You take it out and give a sniff and it is beyond drinking. Do you put it back in the fridge, or do you dump it. Yeah, milk is good, but sour milk is beyond redemption. Your ex was likely good for a time, but by now I am sure he is beyond redemption. Don't make history repeat itself. You're stronger than you think you are. Hang in there.
This is one reason we've gone to a two dimensional christmas tree:
HippieChick58 comments on Dec 3, 2019:
I don't like to decorate, so my sister persuaded me to use my skills. I made a Xmas Tree Quilt. After Xmas I will fold it up and put it away. It is a good size for a lap quilt, about 58 x 64 inches, I think. It is functional too, will keep me warm. The challenge will be remembering where I put it when next December rolls around. So far the cats like it, they spend parts of the day sleeping on it.

That usually doesn't last too long, her investigating that is. My showers... one of life's pleasures. Sometimes they're both in the same room I am, and sometimes I walk into my bedroom to find them asleep on my bed. I call them freaks, they don't seem to mind.

I have been using hemp hearts to increase my protein intake for many years.
HippieChick58 comments on Dec 1, 2019:
I add hemp hearts to many foods, but I realize recently that I have not been adding it as often.. I do eat oatmeal for breakfast, I will start adding the hemp hearts again in the morning. I also add chia seeds when I cook the oatmeal. It helps keep me very regular. :) During the hotter months I mix oatmeal with fruit puree and a few other ingredients and refrigerate at least over night. I make my week day breakfasts on the weekend and store in the fridge for consumption during the week. Currently I nuke the oatmeal while I fix breakfast for the kitties.

It is the attitude of gratitude, it doesn't have to be towards anyone or anything. However I express it by thanking or otherwise acknowledging what others have done for me. I think of all the police and fire department personnel that are at work today. 911 never take the day off, no do ambulances or rescue helicopters. There are still gas stations open on this day, and hotels and motels. Being Atheist doesn't mean I don't feel gratitude. I am grateful to the universe that I am here and I am as I am. When I am alone, I eat mostly vegetarian. When I eat with my kids or others, I eat what they cook and don't worry about it. I'd rather focus on the relationships than the food. I am not willing to be so focused on my perfection or my preferences as to make someone else uncomfortable or to draw unneeded attention to myself. Today being Thanksgiving, my middle daughter (age 31) is the hostess for the family gathering. She is cooking a turkey, I will have some. She asked me to make pumpkin pies and a potato dish. The pies will have whipped cream. There is dairy and eggs in everything I've made for today. I don't know what else is going to be on the table, but I will eat it without questions. It isn't about me, it is about the relationship with the rest of the family. And their dad, my ex, will be there. He has had kidney stones a few times, had to have a surgery. He will grill the cook for the ingredients in a dish, and then loudly exclaim "oh, I can't eat that!" He can if he eats it in combination with something else, and no he hasn't seen a dietitian. There is a limit to how many times eyes can be rolled.

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
