Humanist-
Atheist & agnostic- I do not believe that there is any evidence for god or gods. On the contrary, suffering shows that either there is no god, r that she/he/it doesn't give a damn. Or else is powerless. Either way...
Ex-christian- have a Master of Diivnity degree. And I even was paid to write sunday school lessons. But that was a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...
I collect books (no, I haven't thoroughly readf them all- not enough time), kaleidoscopes. I have a small collection of rocks, minerals, glassware.
I enjoy photography.

Love your story! And the pictures aren't half-bad also (just being my smart-ass self)... Seriously, I really liked the cabin in the woods- the blue sky against the red adds to the scene. I like the brick wall too although I think that the lamp post deetracts from the scene (not a criticism, we all have personal tastes). Question- are you a photographer who's against editing your photos? For example, I had a picture of Mt Shasta but there were wires in the way. It was taken from a moving train and I obviously couldn't change my viewpoint. I had no qualms about editing out the wires. Another favorite is the Tortilla Grill. And the picture of the dogs is charming.

I saw the clip. Because someone said that disinfectant killed the virus on solid surfaces, and that UV light also killed it, he was actually suggesting that injection and interior body UV light be tested by doctors. Not only is it a stupid idea but he also was attacking the integrity and intelligence of medical professionals. He was really saying "why didn't you think of this? I, being the genius that I am, did." Another instance of his delusion that he knows more than anyone.

This is why we vote
HumanistJohn comments on Apr 17, 2020:
and the gop (greedy-old-party, gerrymandering-old-party, etc) is working steadily to steal the election: purging of voters closing polling places gerrymandering Strict voting requirements (the Kentucky gop passed legislation requiring a government-issued voter ID. The governor vetoed it. tHe gop overrode the veto). And there are many, many such laws Opposition to mail-in ballots and other attempts to increase voter participation And the attempts go on and on... I think it was the governor of Georgia who said recently that higher voter turnout means that republicans lose (and I remind you, that as secretary of state in GA before the election which 'elected' him, he purged thousands of voters. That's a typical conflict of interest which republicans don't give a shit about)
Gosh I do love spring!
HumanistJohn comments on Apr 16, 2020:
Great detail! I love the texture and the 3-dimensional beauty of the 1st photo. Also love the deep colors in the 7th photo. The leaves in front of the flower heightens the effect. I'm also trying to figure out why I prefer #2 to #3... Perhaps because #2 has greater depth? I enjoyed them all!
Vote out Stupid!!!
HumanistJohn comments on Apr 15, 2020:
But beware! Republicans have for years had an attack on voting rights. Gerrymandering. Voter ID laws. Closing voting locations. Removing voters from the rolls. Gutting civil rights and voting rights. And anything else they can think of. And the conservative supreme court is complicit in all this. Hell, condervatives have always been against what they used to call the "mob" - that's you and me.

HumanistJohn comments on Apr 15, 2020:
Fantastic photos! The clarity is superb. My favorite is number 7. The rocks in the foreground give it depth. And I love the contrast of the different shades of blue between the sky and the water. Number 5 is my 2nd favorite- great balance of the horizontal lines. Then there's the 1st photo... I'd better give up on ranking them... The Bay of Fundy... I first heard of it when I was a kid. Life magazine put out a book (The World We Live In) in the mid 50s which had pictures.
Sailing away.
HumanistJohn comments on Apr 15, 2020:
I think that we all would wish to do that about now. Very nice composition- the slope of the sail and the lines draw the viewer's attention to the horiiiiiiizon and make the photo come alive. They give a sense of movement.

I was going to say that the subject was a good choice for b/w conversion... then I saw the original. I'm trying to figure out the different reactions that each photo elicited. The colored version evokes... grandeur... reaching for the sky... Something like that. Yje b/w version is stark... no nonsense... here it is...I think the b/w puts more emohasis on the formatiom itself whereas the color version puts the formation as it relates to its environment...

HumanistJohn comments on Apr 11, 2020:
I like the colors. Lovely sunrise. May I make a suggestion? Use a photo editor to lighten up what's in shadow just a little bit. I think it would make the photos even better by adding some texture to the darkness. Cameras can't expose a bright sky and a dark foreground correctly.
