Perspectives not taught in British schools?
LenHazell53 comments on Aug 2, 2021:
I was once sent to the headmaster's office (School Principle) in a production of "Oh what a lovely war" and then banned from participating for commenting that the British empire was a collection of poorer countries we invaded for out own benefit. It was explained to me we did NOT "invade" anywhere we "collonised" and "civillised" other lands for our mutual benefit. I disagreed and was told it would be better if I did not participate.

I'm guessing but it is probably because the handsome chap has a stiffy. The rules do say that pictures of naked women will be taken down if there is a picture of a vagina in the image, especially an aroused one, I'm speculating therefore that the same rule is being applied to genitals generally, perhaps? I personally have no objections, I'm a little envious perhaps, but no objections to this picture, my wife is particularly taken with his long dark hair. The name is a bit of a groaner, on a par with Leslie Nielsons name in "Spy Hard" Dick Steele.

@Gwendolyn2018 @Marionville @Buttercup My son as part of his Mphil in English wrote an analysis of Robinson Crusoe, based upon the fact that Daniel Defoe's other claim to fame was as a competitive Chess grandmaster. My son's piece set out to prove that the plot of Robinson Crusoe is based around a tactical competition of man against nature, civilization against noble savagery in much the same way a game of chess progresses. It, for me, threw a whole new light upon the relationship between Crusoe and Friday as black and white Pawns respectively trapped in a cosmic game not of their own volition.

The heraldic name for a tail is Pen'is, hence freezing the balls off a brass monkey can be compared to the similar slang term "Cooling his ardour"

LenHazell53 comments on Jul 17, 2021:
***“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”*** In 1903 George Bernard Shaw wrote a piece of work titled **Maxims for Revolutionists** this quote is taken from those papers. It DOES NOT appear in **Man and Superman** Also written in 1903 as a political Satire and a parody of the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche's 1883 book Thus Spoke Zarathustra and also the so called cult of reason. I always felt this quote to be an encouragement to think outside of the box, to never go along with accepted wisdom if your intent is change (that much would seem self evident) but to be unreasonable in the eyes of the world if that which you would preach is contests with the idea that "that which is reasonable must be true" a contention as ridiculous as the old idea that "That which is beautiful must be good, and that which is good must be beautiful" Truth need not be either beautiful or reasonable, in fact it is often down right ugly and defies reason. "There is no god" to the religious person is both unreasonable and ugly, but there are few here who would not accept it is in all likelihood true.
