Walked an unusual path of trying to fit in with what the world expected of me in my early days. With life experience and greater confidence I finally broke free to be my authentic self as a gay man. Now much more happy, and at peace, and I love Life and people. Still an introvert, but no longer with fears and shyness to get in the way of meaningful connections with others. Easy going and have a good sense of humor. I live guided by love, truth, and peace, and have many interests, such as Nature, animals, human psychology, art, music, gardening, cooking, computer word games, honest conversation, movies, reading, and massage! Open to finding like minded friends to chat, nearby friends for walks or meals with, and possibly even a special someone. Open to all questions and comments.

OK folks, this is where I'm at. On the trunk I tried the chainsaw, the handsaw, and the axe....Nope....
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
Chainsaws do work on wood, so either the chain is very dull or the tree is actually a cement statue. Correction: I have added a new comment above on it probably being a type of ironwood and all you need is a carbide tip chain for your chainsaw. If that fails, you will just have to move to get away from it!
Is this me???
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
Maybe. You may have to make a greater effort to make sure you have some of the popular qualities they might be looking for, like being reasonably healthy and fit, with a variety of interests some active, and some like cuddling at home watching a movie. And maybe be aware many women are self-sufficient nowadays and not looking for a man to look after them, but to be an equal partner and maybe not even want to be tied down to a marriage and they might find a good close relationship with few strings attached might suit their needs. With your interest in music and art, and your good nature and experience with having traveled many places, you do seem to have things to offer a woman who appreciates those things. Takes time and a bit of daring to chat with some possible matches to learn more about them. Maybe others will have some hints too!

Is it better to legalize prostitution or keep it illegal
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
I'm in favor to make it legal as a regular business with standards for operation and safety for workers, and where health concerns are addressed as well as possible. I think we all know in most any large city there are places where these services are already offered as an alternative to finding women or men offering themselves on the streets. Modern technology is entering the picture for robot sex shops (such as in London and Paris) to go for a quickie throughout the day where STD's are no longer a problem. Also for those so inclined, cyber sex is now a reality where two people can stimulate each other rather bizarrely over the Internet. Let's hope there are no power surges.
Ah, 6.9... now, how to avoid 7.0 and higher? :)
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
To avoid it you must stop logging in and not get that 5 pts every day, and also stop interacting in comments. You are free to create a new email and make up a new name to join again of course. I'm 6.5 and so I need to ask why is Level 7 so scary for you that you want to avoid it?
If a true believer knows, without a doubt, that God is real and an atheist knows, without a doubt, ...
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
Atheists do not KNOW without a doubt there can be no gods. And all Atheism says it that it is a they lack belief in gods, and for most Atheists that comes from a lack of finding any evidence that is convincing to them. I do hear some Atheists say, "There is no God" when speaking with Theists. But that is in the context of the Gods of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and those of Hinduism, all as being silly gods created in the image of man and even with many weak human attributes. I don't think an educated Atheist would assert there can be no gods as a general unknown or unknowable type god concept, because then they would bear the unprovable burden of proof to support that assertion. Agnostics also do not KNOW there can be no proof either way, and Agnosticism only holds to the philosophical position that gods are unknowable. Being unknowable means Agnostics can not KNOW, right? :) I am an Apatheist which is a different view, and I have no beliefs or disbeliefs in gods, and just live my Life the same no matter if they are real or not.
Any Collectors here? I collect various shit, coins for examle.Indian pennies 1900- 1920.
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
Great hobby! I would not known this was a real Apache until I saw the horse standing in a puddle of genuine Texas chili. :) I collected things in my youth like stamps and coins, which I felt helped me value things, and learn to keep things in order. But now that I am older I have let go of collecting anything but memories, but admit I lose some of those once in a while.
I thought it wise to share this important information with you.
Silverwhisper comments on May 3, 2018:
I have been using that sin of math my whole life, but try as I may, I have never been able to figure out why so many billions of people trade cash on collection plates to hear the same dreams of a magic afterlife week after week.

Silverwhisper comments on May 2, 2018:
Why would you take your cat to a vet just because it has a cold? Does it have some special weak condition that it would not recover on its own just like you do from a cold? Maybe issue with breathing or some other unusual symptom that has you concerned? It does look like the cat has the caws up in the eyes indicating there may be some pain though, you know it best and do what you think best. And pet insurance is a complicated thing depending on how much you are willing to spend and what conditions each type of policy covers. Purebred cats tend to have more health problems, so in that case it might be worthwhile if you do.
Population control
Silverwhisper comments on May 2, 2018:
Mankind is too short-sighted to do much about the reckless population growth problem. Some of the climate damage is now already irreversible. Despite the warnings and stats, there is no worldwide public willpower to do anything serious about population control. The good efforts of say 500 million will not hold back the worsening of the situation by the lack of efforts by the other 7 billion. But it's okay because the situation is in the hands of higher power! That of course is Mother Nature who is already setting the wheels in motion to restore the balance, and she has no preference for one species over any other for who will survive. Earth has had 5 major Life extinction events already in the past, and one erased 90% of all life forms. Should be an interesting next couple of centuries.
Is this still a dating site?
Silverwhisper comments on May 2, 2018:
It is only a dating site for the people who are here for dating, and as you see by the Profile info a great many people are here just for friendship and conversation in the Community. The people who seek dates must still make the usual efforts to find dates making contact and having intro conversations with people. The great thing is seeing how people present themselves and how they reply to popular questions so you get to see if there is any chemistry between you. I don't think it's a "sit back and they will come running to your door for a one night stand " kind of dating site. But I have only been here a couple months so maybe others have better info for you.

Should we demand/expect for respect?
Silverwhisper comments on May 2, 2018:
Neither. Respect is not something you can demand, and most often you can have it without earning it. Parents sometimes demand respect from their kids, when in truth they are asking obedience from their kids, and the kids still do not respect them if they deserve no respect, but maybe will obey. I love and respect all people, no matter who they are or what beliefs they have or not, or what culture they are from. I can love and respect the human beings without any need to love and respect their beliefs or their different customs in their culture. Just my weird view of things!
So why are women disgusted by men with...uuuhh, platinum (silver? gray?) hair? Just because we look ...
Silverwhisper comments on May 2, 2018:
Disgusted seems a but strong. It's normal personal preferences, and perhaps self insecurity if you have it. Women might not like men with grey hair, or no hair, or a big belly or bad breath or red hair or too many muscles, or badly dressed, or being too young, in the exact same way some MEN might not like women with grey hair or no hair, or a big belly or bad breath or red hair or too many muscles, or badly dressed, or being too young for them. It's okay to be older. :)

Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
Exercise is very beneficial, but I do understand that it's hard to get motivated to get a routine going. It's great you did 10 minutes worth and yes, it is smart to start off slowly to let your body adjust to something new like this. When you work up to 15 to 20 minutes worth you might find your feel good brain chemicals kick in to make you mentally feel more energized and pleased with yourself, even though physically that can be more tiring. It's all good for helping the heart, and even helps you sleep better. Don't exercise in those hours just before going to bed though. Sounds like you are on the right track, so congratulations. :)
I see people complaining of too many messages and too much attention from people they don’t like....
Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
Well, speaking for myself I think it's because the only thing you and I have in common is we don't like overcooked meat. But if I was straight and 20 years younger that might be enough! :) This seems to be more of a Community for making cyber friends and having social contact with more intelligent and thankfully much less religious people about a lot of practical and interesting topics. People with various problems in their lives seem to come here for advice and support as well. They did just start up a Singles Group for those more interested in dating. Most of those compatible with me are many hundreds of miles away since mostly it is Americans here, and I am Canadian. If you are near a large city there are probably other local dating sites that might give quicker results for you. Guess you might have to send messages yourself to any prospective guys that catch your attention and catch their attention. Good luck!

Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
Men are protectors of their own families, and the more enlightened ones may be protectors of anyone who needs protecting. Women too can take on the role of protecting those who need protecting of course, beyond just their own children. Homocide is the killing of men, but over time it has broadened it's meaning to be for any human being. Femicide and gynaecide are both killing of women, but both of those are rarely used. Killing to me is an irrational immoral act from some misguided state of mind. Men kill about 6 times more often than women with some genetic and psychological factors probably accounting for that. Men more often kill for revenge, jealousy, just the thrill, or to cover something else up, whereas women most often kill for personal gain of money, property, or a misguided idea it is the loving thing to do. The news story on this van case says THIS killer was inspired by one of another man several years ago in California who was brainwashed in some extremist anti-feminism groups there. So this was also the actions of a brainwashed psychotic man driven nuts by a bad ideology, much like some men get brainwashed and driven to kill by misguided religious ideologies against women, gays and people in other religions. No excuse for murder like this. :(

Religious friends keep sending me religious text?
Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
You did say she was a friend, which means you should be free to express your feelings, and thoughts. You said you have only ignored the messages instead of being honest to assertively say the messages bothered you, right? Also, she may be doing it out of habit to some extent if she talks Jesus to everyone. So give her the benefit of the doubt, and speak up and tell her that it DOES bother you, and ask that she try to stop. Friends like to cooperate and avoid doing annoying things, right? So she deserves the chance to be asked and to try. Problem solved. But if she refuses, or soon falls back into the same annoying pattern, no matter how well meaning from her point of view, then she was not a friend in the first place. You have thousands of other people as possible friends.

There once was a time of no Moon, So romance was gone very soon, In dark they would huddle, But no light to cuddle, No kisses, no weddings in June! :)
Die for your beliefs?
Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
Living is always the right answer, because it gives you further future options. Believing is easy to fake anyway. If it were a more serious choice, like raping someone or killing them, I would prefer to die. But that would not be dying for my beliefs, but dying for my moral principles for whom I choose to be.
Free Will?
Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
That is not free will. :) Free will is nothing like what you are talking about, which actually seems to be getting anything you want. You are talking more about having a magic genii with a million wishes, or being GOD I think! Free will is just being able to make your own choices for things that are possible in your Life. Go to work, or not go to work and take the consequences. Free will is different than DIVINE Will. :) Technically humans do not really have true free will in the sense people usually mean, but for practical purposes what we do have seems good enough to be free will for every day purposes.
Sam Harris - A Collection Of Arguments Every Believer and Atheist Should Know About - YouTube
Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
This is interesting for non-believers, but Theists do not hold their beliefs so dear and take the stories on faith by basing things on facts, logic or sound reasoning. So that is sound arguments have very little effect on changing the mind of a Theist. I have had the better luck by connecting on an emotional and psychological level first, to bypass the built in distrust. Most often older people are too far gone being fearful and stubborn to reach by any method. But I have had some luck with a small number of educated younger people who still had open minds, and were willing to try to understand how they came to believe the things they do. The Socratic method popular with street epistemologists seems to be effective in some cases too. I love Sam's many books and great ideas, too..

You are not lost without her. I do empathize with your pain and it will take time for you to accept the reality that your love will not be returned. But maybe for now you need to focus on YOUR feelings and YOUR needs. Can't say how long it will take, but once fully apart it will slowly get easier. Especially if you take some steps to heal and explore adding new interests in your life. No need to go seeking dates right away. Make some effort to keep your body and mind healthy, and go for walks, spend time with other friends if possible for activities like a meal out, or a movie, or just chatting on other topics on the phone. It's okay to feel the pain or cry, but no need to wallow in it. Keep busy and trust that you still have possibilities for the future. In time I hope you might even the point of wishing her well to hope she finds what she wants and needs. I hope in time you will feel better. Just words from someone who has gone through this twice, and now looking for another chance! peace

Thanks so much for having a loving compassionate heart and doing what you could. Many things in Life are beyond our abilities and sometimes Life is not fair, it just is what it is. I know such platitudes do not stop the pain and are not very comforting. I have held the hands of elderly people dying while I worked in health care too, and sometimes I felt honored and thankful to be a caring part of their last hours when they had no one else in the world who cared. But for the death of a child, who has not even had a chance to experience much of life, the pain must be unbearable. Be kind to yourself. hugs.

But definitely not my style, and I suspect cybersex in a real "relationship" is of interest to only a very small percentage of people. I try not to judge, but I crave a real body, sensual massaging, tender loving kisses all over, hugging and loving with real emotions and responses. Even cold feet or an occasional fart are part of the that real humanity, and I will never get tired of it. :)

Silverwhisper comments on May 1, 2018:
I know nothing about the rules and regulations, credentials and qualifications and institution policies and requirements and expectations for what you are doing. But I do know a lot about human psychology and mental stress. The chaos and stress and ineffective methods, bad working conditions, and mentally disturbed aggressive people you deal with, and being forced to give people grades they do not deserve, all add up to being way too much stress which is harming you mentally and possible physically with things like lack of sleep etc. I admire your integrity and dedication for trying to be a good teacher through all this. I can't solve your problem, but from an outsider's view I would suggest if you can't resolve your working conditions and grading methods with your supervisors this will just get worse and worse till something snaps. It's great you are asking for advice and help. For your own sanity you may have to consider other employment options or moving to a different area to use the good skills you have. In Asia and other places they crave English teachers and pay them well and often give them free living accommodations. But I expect you have ties and responsibilities to keep you where you are. Hope that was of some help anyway.

Only reason to live?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 30, 2018:
No, that would be a secondary reason at best. My reason to live is primarily to fulfill myself as a human being and be who I choose to be. An important part of that involves my relationships with others in my family and friends circle, as well as concern for the extended circle of mankind in general, and the environment. Living only for someone else would be a dysfunctional codependent situation at best.

How come most people don't feel sorry when a fish dies?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 30, 2018:
Humans are strange creatures with illogical biases and strange psychological ideas. They will cry if a newborn kitten dies, if a dog gets a broken leg, but could care less that 1,000 highly intelligent pigs were slaughtered to give their city tasty pork chops for their BBQ's on the weekend. Most suffering cats and dogs with illnesses and injuries would more humanely be euthanized the same as is logically done with non-pet animals. But humans get attached to things like pets, and anthropomorphize them with human attributes the animals actually do not have to the extent the owners imagine. Well, except for the Siamese cats that I had as pets, because they were so smart. And I knew they loved me, and I could tell what they were thinking sometimes by their expressions, and of course they understood every word I said!

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 30, 2018:
Most of us are totally unaware that our little conscious minds have a silent partner, the larger MASTER brain subconscious mind, that works 24/7, never sleeps, is aware even under anesthetics, and is in charge of all vital body functions, is directly connected to all our senses, and has control over all our memories. And it actually makes a lot of our so called "free will" decisions for us before we know we have decided. This silent partner works at 10 times the speed of our smaller thinking mind, and we ONLY are aware of the outside world through interpretations that IT makes from analyzing data from memory, our life patterns, and sensory information. If we mess up that complex brain chemistry function in our hidden MASTER brain by taking alcohol, drugs, or by being affected by things like strong emotions, religious indoctrination, trauma, or illness etc, it can malfunction. Then it can send a false interpretation of the outside world to our consciousness, and we see and experience weird things like drug trips, euphoria, having people in a room look more attractive than they really are, feeling the holy presence of Allah or Jesus, seeing ghosts, or our long dead parents, and so many other things. Thankfully, our deeper MASTER brain works very well most of the time, and so quickly and seamlessly in our lives that we are not even aware it is there looking after us, guiding our every step and watching out for us. It sees that car speeding towards us before we are consciously aware of it, and it has already sent messages to our muscles to get out of the way before we can think what to do. And yes, it can give us hints that we call intuition or gut feelings that we do not understand. Have you thanked your MASTER brain lately for all it does? lol

Religious exodus post discovery of anti-aging?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 30, 2018:
No, from looking into this over the years the Neuroscience and Psychology says mostly it is hidden brain chemistry, and it works like a strong mental addiction over time to satisfy the believer's inner emotional and psychological needs. The "Parent Attachment" even for adults is a hidden craving for a higher power to watch over them, love them, guide them and bless them sometimes like Mommy and Daddy used to do. Also, they get an extra kick of feel good brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin when gathering in worship with other believers, which reinforces their beliefs and addiction to return. The religious indoctrination happens by using time-tested methods like repetitious rituals, sermons, and reading monotonous verses, and chanting or singing etc. It's highly effective to place vulnerable minds in a semi-hypnotic receptive state. Humans love rituals and are fascinated by the concept of supernatural things as well. No wonder over 5 billion have fallen victim to it.

I have only found one important label that applies to all, and that is human being. Then if something comes up in a conversation related to if I am gay or trans or Spanish or asexual or British or female, or a Chinese food lover, then I make a point of explaining further on that point if needed. I am a gay male, but I have no need to wave signs or introduce myself that way to anyone, and I could care less if they thought I was straight or not a male. I do see that the specific labels are good for talking about things specifically related to trans topics, or asexual issues, but like you say it gets very complicated trying to please everyone to get them all included in special ways. If people could get past thinking they must have a special label which everyone else must acknowledge and use, to be able to interact with them, then they would be much further ahead in showing their special label is not as important as the common humanity between them and everyone else to engage in everyday conversations and activities. Just my view and I welcome being told I am way off base if there are some good reasons behind it. Very easy going myself. :)

It is normal to fear death to some extent and some people do so more than others. We hate the idea of ending the joys and challenges of life and losing contact with those who mean so much to us. But like the changing seasons it is beyond our control. But consider for a minute what YOU were like, about one year before you were even conceived? A state of non-existence. So for a while we as individuals, get to experience life just like every other species does, and we as humans have some consciousness, so we can have complex lives with ups and downs and do the best we can. The time will come when our systems and biochemistry fails and that consciousness will no longer be able to exist, and like the RAM on a computer, no electrical energy will remain to manifest it. So again, YOU, your sense of self, and consciousness will again be non-existent. Death is not peace like we hear so often, or feeling no more pain and suffering, but in truth just non-existence with no thoughts or feelings at all. And because it is normal and natural and we have no alternative anyway, for me I do not waste to much time losing sleep over it. Maybe that comes from having led a rewarding life, and feeling fulfilled spiritually to be content and at peace. I admit I do feel sad when children or young people die without having had much chance to experience life. While we ourselves must die, humanity goes on, hopefully enriched a little by things we did and thoughts we passed on to others in so many small ways. While we are limited, Life itself is virtually eternal, but not in a religious sense.

I live in Canada, in an urban area, and now there is practically no "danger" as such at all. I would not say things are perfect and there still is some homophobia I guess, but nothing like what I saw in my youth say 40 years ago. I am gay, but was rather fearful and wimpy and tried to fit into what society expected of me and did have a 20 years marriage which was rather good actually. I have a wonderful son from that, and by chance he way gay as well and came out to me first, at age 18, which was after I had come out to my family and the world in a more shocking way a few years earlier. Life is complicated! Both both my ex-wife and I did find a new man in our lives about a year after we separated. And again I had a great loving and fulfilling 12 year relationship with the guy. For various reasons we did decided to part though a few years ago, and are still best friends. Maybe I am greedy but at 69 I am again searching to find that closeness and bond again still having a craving to hold a guy in my arms to cuddle, and cherish faithfully. I will need a local person, but this Community is great and I enjoy speaking with many people regardless of orientation here on many topics and hope to make a few cyber friends here at least. I do hope you also will find your way to reach your goals of having the love and relationship you need and deserve. Good luck!

Welcome, and I think you will find the discussions and topics here interesting. Feel free to offer your input, and some ideas and wisdom from older people are appreciated because they have had more life experience and had to deal with these same issues. It was a bit tougher in our day for older gays like you and me when even holding hands or admitting at work that you were gay was met with shock or being socially ostracized. I have a gay son who is now 36, and had few problems after he came out. He has been married to a great guy for over 12 years, and they have had a lot of support from family and friends for their relationship from the beginning. Being gay is less of an issue here in Canada now, but things are not perfect fro sure. We still have a ways to go to bring more enlightenment into some minds.

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 28, 2018:
Personally I have never seen much purpose to tattoos anymore than a decoration like a new hat or ring or wearing colored contacts. I have no problem at all with those that do if they have some need to, but I am not my body or the decorations or lack of decorations on it. I am just me, the person inside, the consciousness and the one who has the love and knowledge and life experience that is truly what others will be making contact with if they want to know me. Having worked with looking after many seniors in the last years of their lives I did see a few tattoos from earlier in their lives. They were more likely to try to hide their sagging dragons, roses, and star shapes that were all distorted. But again I want to say I fully support people's right to have them. I have seen some that were very impressive and the 3D ones can be awesome and sometimes scary! https://youtu.be/K-1tyIYxAPo

Happiness is not my goal in life, living fully in Reality no matter what it brings is my goal. That is in fact why when Theists tell me how great Heaven will be I tell them, no! l think I would soon find being happy for an infinite period of time to be an utter Hell for me, by being inescapable and unchangeable. As a human being I think I need challenges and problems, and people to help, and mountains to climb, and my heart aches to heal, and sunsets to see, and surprise gifts to open. Atheists must unite! Sexually I mean to reproduce quickly please! lol Not likely. Yes, the honest truth is that intelligence is not a big factor in Mother Nature's recipe for making a species fit for survival. Adaptability is the main factor and uneducated idiots can often do that as well as Ph.D's. Our future as always is in the hands of that higher power, namely Mother Nature, and Life is not fair it just is. Humans are not special or necessary except in our own eyes. If we have to go to restore the balance, then so be it. Nature in fact is already taking strong measures to counteract the thoughtless, short-sighted, and destructive effects of our species over the last centuries. We can talk and plan and fail, and talk more and make nice plans and fail again, but Mother Nature is unstoppable and will have her way. It is already too late for mankind to save the vital ocean bacteria which is steadily declining, ocean waters are warming and rising, weather systems are growing more intense. Places like Puerto Rico have not recovered from last year's storms to even have power restored decently yet, and a new hurricane season is on the way. We will feel effects that will kill many tens of millions or maybe more before the end of this century. Be comforted by the talk of politicians and world leaders of actions they plan, but know that Mother Nature is not easily fooled or that patient, and is already taking appropriate action.

Why is Faith considered so dearly and science is not?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
Science is valued greatly too, and most Theists use and rely on Science for dozens of things in their lives every day. But for religious people you must realize that Faith is designed specifically to satisfy them on an emotional and psychological level that releases fell good brain chemicals to make them feel good. This is especially enhanced in gatherings of fellow worshippers where they reinforce each other's beliefs. Religion is basically a mental addiction that takes advantage of many well known weak human emotional and psychological needs. In Psychology they even have a term called "Parent Attachment" for the subconscious need that even most adults have for a subliminal wish that there was someone to watch over them, love them, guide them, and bless them sometimes, like Mommy and Daddy used to do. Theists get a similar brain chemical kick from their gatherings as people do going to an exciting rock concert, or political rally, parade, or sports game. The mighty "power of belief" is driven mainly by hidden brain chemistry functions well known in Neuroscience. That is why the usual sound reasoning and facts make no difference when debating with Theists. Their addiction will keep a good hold on them, not too different than for cocaine or nicotine addicts.

I have had two occasions in my life where my doctor recommended a qualified Chiropractor to me, and both times it relieved me of pain with a couple treatments and they also taught me movement exercises to strengthen muscles to prevent the pain from returning. Also, I have had a couple family members use Chiropractors and they were satisfied. This is in Canada for me.

Atheist principles - would atheists be interested in listing basic atheist principles?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
Atheism has no doctrines or principles to follow. People who happen to be Atheists are free to follow any principles they feel like, and like most people they will probably be decent people with decent morals, but may do some misguided things sometimes. I hear many Atheists say they admire the Buddhist teachings for sensible ways to lead your life. Myself, I am guided by love, truth, and peace, and I have not found any religion that can offer anything better than that anyway.
Reincarnation or DNA Memory?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
Never heard of such a theory. DNA has no capacity to store memories, but there are familial common traits of course. Normal memories of people are not stored in any one place as one unit anyway. A memory of one event for example is sorted in many separate places in the brain for separate ideas like images, smells, sounds or emotional factors. But while being stored in different areas they are linked, so one smell or sound might have the brain recall all the pieces of the memory together. There has never been one single scientifically proven cases of real reincarnation, but I researched it one time and I found they had 5 mysterious cases from the past that seem legit. With no actual proof though, the honest scientific answer for why those very few people did seem to have genuine past memories is "We do not know the answer yet."
Can we forgive humans for being human?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
In my youth I had the usual immaturity and I held on to things like anger and resentments. Over the years, starting after 40 or so, I realized how useless and unproductive holding on to hate and resentments was. So I can be assertive and speak my mind, but I have no need to hold on to blame or anger to not forgive people. Whether for insults or things they might do, by accident or on purpose, that cause me harm or pain. I have no trouble forgiving. Forgiveness comes automatically to me knowing people can do things for misguided reasons, and holding on to anger and resentments does more harm to me that anyone else. Not saying I am, or ever was perfect, since perfection is not possible for us imperfect human beings. But I do my best to be forgiving as quickly as possibly. Using reason and the Scientific Method are only tools we use to figure things out, and because the possibilities of questions we come up with are unlimited, we will never have all the answers. Reaching some ultimate end or truth or goal is not the purpose of Life. The purpose of Life for all species is the same, that being to survive and to thrive as best we can to fulfill our needs, and for humans maybe our hopes and dreams.

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
I'm an Apatheist who has participated in many Atheist forums, and I support general feminism. Oddly while participating in various Atheist media forums, I have still seen some misogynistic attitudes and resistance against feminism. Often I found that they thought all feminism was aggressive radical feminism. I support full equal rights for women in all aspects of life, including rights over her own body for abortions. I do think prospective fathers can express their wishes for or against an abortion, but ultimately it is the woman's decision for what happens in her body. The unGodly influences for centuries by the Abrahamic religions for training women that they should submit to men seems unjust and immoral. I am glad modern women are realizing their power to work together to make long overdue changes. Millions of women are still locked in a mindset of submission unfortunately clinging to old traditions. Improvements have happened, but many decades of work to bring enlightenment to more places are still needed.

Does the thought of dying alone scare you?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
Everyone dies alone unless perhaps from multiple deaths in a bomb blast or something. Having people around you at death may be comforting to you before you enter the death process, and may be comforting to those people themselves, but once the body slips into the actual death process which may take from 3 to 5 minutes or more, you are on your own. Some people may be drugged and sedated to be unaware of what is happening of course. The brain is often the last thing to shut down long after the heart and breathing has stopped, so there can be minutes of mental chaos and panic as the brain struggles to survive even cannibalizing its own tissue for vital oxygen and glucose for energy to function. Depends on circumstances of death, but most people will lose conscious awareness before the scary parts happen. .
The Truth About Sex After 40: Survey Reveals How Our Preferences Change With Age
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 27, 2018:
A lot of our preferences change with age so that is not unusual. I think it is more the teens and 20's set who might find sex on the beach at midnight, or in the backseat of a car, or on the kitchen table to be perfectly fine when the mood strikes. :) At 69 I still have desires and am able to function, but certainly more slowly and not as well as 20 years ago. To me now, sex is more about cuddling, intimacy, loving contact and mutual play and pleasure, rather than pretending I am a porn stud.

Is science & religion compatible?
Silverwhisper comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Easy to answer. NO. Science is based on evidence and proof, while religions are only "belief systems" based on accepting what the religion trains you to accept to satisfy emotional and psychological needs, by just taking comforting man-made stories on faith. They are fundamentally irreconcilable as Hitchens used to say. The God believers are free to accept many ideas of Science as well of course, but the religion itself must adhere to its doctrine that "the God named (insert your favorite one here) did it!"

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Agnosticism is not based on the idea of belief or lack of belief. That is Theism and Atheism. Agnosticism is a knowledge based position with the concept of gods being unknowable. If these other "sentient beings" do not fit the usual definition for gods, then they have nothing to do with the position of Agnosticism. So feel free to have a belief or not. A belief by definition does not even require any good evidence to have it anyway. Theists and most people just make up comforting reasons instead. The Gaia hypothesis or theory is more of a scientific view of how organic and inorganic things naturally work together on Earth, rather than anything involving sentience. You can believe in advanced aliens with sentience, or some sentient non-god Force or Being in another state of existence or alternate Universe if you wish to. What use that would be beyond fantasy I don't know though. We exist in a metaphysical Reality, since we have limited intelligence and limited abilities to even perceive the true nature of the Universe around us. Year after year we learn new things which just raise more questions needing more exploration. We will not exist long enough as a species to answer half the questions we have now. :)

People are always allowed to change their opinions for their own reasons for many different causes. Maybe they find out you are not a vegan, or not married, or not a college graduate, or not a coffee drinker, or not into yoga and meditation, or not into Astrology like they are. We can only control ourselves and if someone gets turned off by something in our nature, or our thinking, or habits, then we must decide if WE wish to continue, or try to resolve the difference, or just move on. YOU have that same right if you find out they are a Theist or anything else that turns you off, correct? Free choice! :)

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 26, 2018:
We don't have any infinite destiny of course, and are a temporary and rather fragile species. Our hopes and dreams may be infinite though. I think fear will remain a major part of all our lives the same as it has for humans for the last 200,000 years or more. Fear is the root of other common human attributes like greed, anger, and jealousy as well. Most likely we are a bit beyond halfway through our expected timeline of existence as a species, but on the reckless path we are on now, our end may come somewhat sooner. Any major astronomical disaster could end our species too, even though things like bacteria are more durable and adaptable, so they are more likely to survive most anything. I guess all we know for sure is that we have now.

You came here to help a bit with not feeling alone, and you can seek out like-minded people in your own area at any social, community, sports event, or festival type gathering. Odds are many people do have some religious connection, but they still may be open and tolerant to not let it get in the way of friendships. Atheism has nothing to do with either knowledge or ignorance, and that falls under your own personal choice to support education, and to promote truth by having good evidence. Sometimes just being a volunteer with young people, or any age really, where you can point out ways for them to use sound thinking for problem solving. Planting the seeds of truth may sprout to enable them to better determine on their own what is real and what is not.

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 26, 2018:
The Bible does have "do unto others", "love one another", and the more complex "love thine enemy" , but in truth all three of those concepts had already been written in ancient Hinduism long before. And History shows us that in fact the Hindus on average have followed those wise teachings better than the Christians ever did. You are right that many common sense Buddhist teachings are in the Bible as well as in other religions. I think some still take the Genesis idea of women needing to submit to the husband idea too far, just as burning witches and stoning gays or naughty children to death which did happen, seems completely barbaric. It might have turned out better if the early Christian writers had invented GOD to be female and less hostile and sadistically authoritarian.

Silverwhisper comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Sounds like you gave it a lot of thought, and you followed your heart to try to save the friendship because it was certainly worth trying to save. Just as there are different types of Christians with different levels of tolerance and strict adherence to religious beliefs, the same holds true for modern Muslims. I have known a few and had no issues at all. Apparently she places your love and friendship above any strict interpretations of Islamic doctrines. As long as the friendship is open and honest and mutually beneficial and respectful, it should continue little different than before. Just don't get bacon if you share a pizza. :)
