Not only is it creepy but often they drone on and on until the food is cold.
Surfpirate comments on Nov 23, 2018:
My older brother was an elder in his church and he would give us a mini sermon every time he said grace at family dinners and my sister would fume as she watched the food she had slaved to make go cold while he thanked the Holy Moly for the grass and the trees and the birds and the bees. We asked him to cut it shorter out of respect to the rest of the family that didn't share his delusions and to the cooks (I'm also a good cook) but each time he would do the same crap, rambling on for 5 minutes or more. Finally, my brother in law politely asked if he might say grace for a change and my older brother was so thrilled at the possible conversion that he readily agreed, everyone bowed their heads and held hands, then after a brief pause for dramatic effect my brother in law said 'Rubba dub dub, Thanks for the grub, YAY GOD!' dropped hands and started to dig in. My older brother got up and left the table but he was much shorter on his sermons at future family get togethers.

I once got fired for building a latrine for my men on a job in the West Indies, the racist owner of the company I was subcontracting from felt that my black workers should go do their business in the jungle because that's where the other animals went to have a shit. The jungle behind the luxurious mansion I was build was littered with the dusk masks that my local workers used to wipe their asses with and then place on top of their shit so they wouldn't step in it on their next trip into the jungle. The owner of the property intervened and I was reinstated immediately, my men got to keep their latrine on site which I insisted my white workers and myself use instead of going back to the hotel where my white workers lived, that insured that there was always toilet paper and it was kept clean.

We lived in our 33' motorhome for a couple of years as we traveled around Canada, the US and mainly Mexico. What we learned about our hobbies and crafts is that we have to focus on doing only a couple of projects at a time, 3 at most or they tend to overwhelm the living space and it becomes a bit of a slow motion train wreck. Men Say They Want A Smart Women...Until They Date One | I Heart Intelligence.com

I think it works both ways, I have dated women who were physically attractive but just not that bright or even just average and it is like having a conversation with an echo chamber. My wife is very intelligent but she does find me a bit annoying sometimes because she doesn't always keep up in areas of special interest to me. It's always a compromise in any relationship and I can say one thing with certainty, I wouldn't want to be with someone exactly like me, the imperfections I accept in myself are things I probably wouldn't feel the same about in someone else.

Lyndsey was never good at heights after that so his dad who was also a high steel man put the word out so nobody would hire him, my gain as I only built mid-rise projects so no problem. Lyndsey did have one fall on one of my jobs but it wasn't his fault, a spring board broke loose and the wall gave out underneath him, I put him on sick pay for two weeks and he came back to work after only a couple of days because he said his old lady was driving him crazy being stuck at home and he was worried he might have to shoot her, in fairness she was a wild woman but then so was Lyndsey.

What’s the worst or most boring job you’ve ever had?
Surfpirate comments on Nov 14, 2018:
During the Recession of 81' I got a summer job working at a precast concrete plant as a spot welder making the wire hoops that gave strength to precast concrete manhole risers that are needed to adjust the height of the manholes to the road height. I sang every song I could think of to keep from losing my mind from the boredom but jobs were scarce and this one paid good money, then I found out the rest of the shift had a pool going on how long I would last, the record was 6 weeks and most of the bets were for only a week or two. Every Friday the spot welder had to climb the tower where the precast cement was mixed in a giant mixer that fed the concrete down gravity fed tubes to the assembly line, there were 3 lockout switches that I had to lock out before I climbed into the room sized mixer with an air chisel and a dust mask to chip out all the hardened cement that had accumulated over the course of the week. It was 140 degree inside that mixer and if the machine should somehow be turned on in spite of the 3 lockouts I would be scrambled into a human paste. I lasted 10 weeks and won the pool because I bet against myself at 10 weeks. A really tough job and monotony doesn't begin to describe it.
Do you consider your job?
Surfpirate comments on Nov 14, 2018:
What's dirty vs clean? I've worked cleaning out a butcher shop and a bakery with a pressure washer, built subdivision houses where I repaired the foundations but had to watch out that I didn't step in the shit the guys laid down in the dark corner because the portapot stank so bad and I've run luxury resort hotel builds from an air conditioned office but I always walked the job several times a day to keep my finger on the pulse of what was going on. Some would call those jobs dirty but I never scammed anybody or skinned them on a crooked financing job or shook them down so I would say my hands are clean.

Love Bowie's music and he had the one of the coolest houses I've ever seen. I built the writer's cottage on his property in Mustique after he had sold it to Felix Dennis, the house was made of antique bass relief teak panels from a whole village in Thailand, never seen anything quite like it.
I'm willing to bet this is the coolest thing you hear today and it was taped at a backyard bbq.

What are the biggest challenges you face as an atheist?
Surfpirate comments on Nov 9, 2018:
I find that if I step back and look objectively at my life as an Atheist I see that it is a two edged sword. On the one hand I look at the world objectively, rationally and logically which I think gives me far greater peace of mind and also a competitive edge over the majority of people who have a world view that is skewed by religious delusions. On the other hand there are the problems associated with having to deal with a majority of the population who live their lives under a religious delusion where facts and logic don't always apply. I often find that it is what I imagine it would be like to be accidentally committed to an insane asylum even though you are perfectly sane, it can be extremely frustrating and often quite isolating to have to constantly deal with people that are technically insane from my perspective and at the same time try to establish relationships with the other wrongfully committed sane people (ie atheists and agnostics) who are in a similar boat as I am in; frustrated, isolated and often suspicious of other sane people because they can't be sure if I am sane or not. Technically speaking the majority perspective should rule so even though religion is a delusion, if the majority of people believe in it then they are setting the standard for what qualifies as sanity, ie the world is flat and the sun orbits the earth, stars are just light leaking through the curtain that divides us from the light of heaven, we are all born into original sin and are in constant mortal peril of eternal damnation if we don't spend our lives walking on eggshells in adherence to illogical religious doctrine, etc. etc.

Holy Smokes! Now the old guard is circulating a rumour that I'm a drug dealer in order to explain how I managed to retire before I was 50. These people are really unbelievable and need to go back to Trumpland where they belong.
