Thankfully here in Australia we have a more secular style of Undertakers where one can request a NON religious style service and ACTUALLY get one. My 16 year old daughter requested that her service been completely religion free before she passed from cancer and it be a Celebration of her Life rather than a mournful thing. I made certain she got exactly what she wanted with music that expressed who she was and how she was, and still is, loved by me. I was most pleasantly surprised when the Hospital Chaplain, with whom we'd become very good friends btw, asked most sincerely if he could attend and talk about how he'd spent hours talking with Lorrae, what great person she was, her sense of humour, etc, and how he'd learned from her, in particular, that Atheist are truly decent, honest, open, free-minded, caring people to be admired and NOT to be condemned out of hand. As he spoke I saw many heads of the religious there being hung in shame and was touched by his open sincerity and candour.

Er, mankind in the multiple millenia that it has been around in has created, adored and worshiped more than 300,000 different Gods/Goddesses, not the 'miniscule' amount that Michael Schermer cited. Hinduism, for example, has 3,000+ deities alone, the Ancient Greek Pantheon had well over 2,000 Major and Minor Deities, the Ancient Romans had well over 2,000 Major and Minor Deities as well and that is NOT adding in the ones they 'adopted' from both older cultures and cultures of the lands and people they conquered they. Christianity, aka christinsanity, CLAIMS to be monotheistic BUT in truth and logic it has 3 major Gods, 1 Goddess and a pantheon of Minor ones, aka Saints, especially the Catholic side of things. Of the 300,000+ deities I'd adamantly say that ABSOLUTELY NONE of them exist nor have ever existed except in the imaginations and machinations of human kind.

Update, went past where the Faithfools were on Tuesday, very noticable by their total absence and met up with one the staff from a nearby business who told me that " the pests had packed up and shot through so quickly after I had said my piece, that they, themselves, had crumpled up their pamphlets and discarded them and were in such a hurry they'd actually LEFT their fold away chairs behind also."

So far, according to a news report I watched last night, the ONLY OFFER yet to come from the 'Citadel of Rampant, Robe wearing, Paedophiles, aka the Vatican, has been the usual 'Thoughts and Prayers.' The generosity of the Church of Child Abuse is as patently as obvious, in my opinion, as is their decency, caring and Honesty.

I've been a smoker of cigarettes since I was 18 years old, tried giving up more than a few times BUT still enjoy having a smoke whenever I want one EXCEPT when I'm in someone else house where they don't smoke or if around my 5 year old nephew and other children.
