As my Dad used to always say; "Miracles I can do pretty quickly, the impossible just takes a little bit longer." I've kind of lived by that motto to the point that a few years ago I needed a post holes making device that could be used comfortably and easily whilst sitting down, needed no motor/electric or otherwise and could cut a hole a specific diameter and depth. I made what I wanted from a piece of an old steel tubing fence post, 600mms in diameter, 800mms in length, welded a cross-member at the top, welded in two up-right pieces at each side diagonally then found another shorter thinner piece of piping to use as a lever system, cut teeth into the bottom of my new post hole borer similar to very large saw teeth, heated them and then cooled them very slowly to harden them and, voila, I now had a post hole borer that I could use from a seated position ( because my back injury does not like me bending over for any length of time btw) that can bore a hole through soil and stone to depths of 800mms with very little effort. But my next door neighbor laughed at my 'ínvention' and decided to HIRE a mechanical Post hole Borer for a cost of $150 per hour only to find that it could NOT bore through the same rock strata that my cheap piece of rubbish ( his words) could. Plus, after he had both burned out the 3 hp petrol motor and destroyed the the auger bits completely, he discovered that the Hire Company demanded that he replace the Borer with a new one costing him nearly $1,500.

As a nurse in Casualty ( E.R. these days) at the local hospital one evening we had a patient arrive, late in the evening btw, with a blanket tied around his lower body and a very large protruding shape in the front of it which he was supporting gingerly with both hands. Upon taking him into an Examination Cubicle, removing the blanket we discovered a chicken, once alive but now somewhat dead hanging from his penis ( I'll leave it up to your imagination as to which end of the chicken was still dangling free). The patients hands, legs and lower regions were deeply lacerated by claw and beak marks, some being rather long and more than merely skin deep. After some very fast and urgent surgery the poor chicken's body was removed, the lacerations were cleaned and dressed, preventative injections for tetanus, etc, were given and then both a Psychiatrist, the Police and the R.S.P.C.A. were called in. The 'excuse' given by the patient was that " he could pick up a 'bird' ( human female btw) for a one night stand so he elected for the best he could think of at the time."

I woke up to minus 26 C this morning and the forecast blizzard with arctic temps hasn't even arrived...

As a nurse I've seen doctors, surgeons and nurses working furiously to save peoples lives/heal them BUT never once has there been even the slightest glimpse of a Divine intervention or presence.

I'm contemplating getting a cat ?

I've had both cats and dogs for most of my life, I prefer dogs to cats for a great number of reasons including; a) with dogs there are NO stinking, foul littler trays around the house, b) dogs are eager to please you, easy to train, c) great companions who WILL stick by you through thick and thin, d) protective and loyal, and, last but by no means least, e) are open with their affections towards and welcome yours in return.
