Has anyone rested successfully on a red eye?
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
You said it worked well for you in the past, so if it ain't broke don't fix it, as they say. Some people use Sominex which is similar, and also Dramamine or Gravol too which makes most people drowsy. I'd stick with what already worked well. :)

WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
I have found most people here to be more knowledgeable, respectful, and to have open minds than in some public media forums I chat with people in. I can talk on most any question or topic and sometimes do get a bit wordy! Mostly I have got along well with most everyone here which is refreshing for sure. There have been a couple disagreements, and I stay respectful and back up the things I say with reputable sources. If they still disagree to prove themselves right, that's okay and I just move on. Sometimes I can learn new things too, and have an open mind to that. I have a lot of curiosity and love chatting with people in other countries to get a better idea of what things are really like there from their perspective compared to what I hear on the news. If anyone degrades into name calling, nothing meaningful can come from that, so I just end it. I never let words make me upset or angry, so that has not been a problem.
Mushroom coffee
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
Never heard of it, but I just read it's great for those people who get anxiety from caffeine. And it just tastes like normal coffee right? I only have one coffee a day, and i switch varieties from regular Colombian and French Roast, to ones like Raspberry Chocolate, and Toasted Coconut flavour beans. I love mushrooms in various dishes I make. Thanks for mentioning this, and I may look for some to try. Here's a little article on it. https://www.fastcompany.com/40515798/heres-what-happened-when-i-drank-mushroom-coffee-for-a-month
I have finally found the gourds I want to grow. [youtu.be]
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
So I guess you did not do much research when you saw the seeds for sale online then. The pictures you showed are artwork by a Vietnamese artist outside one hotel actually. The seeds you got will make small green pumpkins as reported by several gardeners in reviews on Amazon who did buy and grow the seeds. . https://www.hoax-slayer.net/boob-melons-hoax-vietnamese-gourd-pumpkin-images/
How do you get through to someone who denies the Moon landings

Some of the seeds of truth will fall on barren ground. There are a lot of barren ground minds in the Bible Belt, but the infection has spread far and wide so you can find them just about anywhere. I have it on good authority that it can happen even in the Oval Office now, despite the great amount of BS in the area.

Do you like animals
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
Yes, I confess I am an ailurophile, because I find cats so alluring. I have had many cats over the years, mostly Siamese. And I guess I can safely say I speak cat now because each one has helped to teach me how to be a good servant to them, and appropriately worship them. I do like all animals really, unless they look at me like I am lunch.

Is marriage for all a good idea?
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
I like that first option for "massages for all" as being the most welcome and useful for all mankind, which includes womankind. Very relaxing! And I really enjoy giving sensual warm oil massages myself. And getting them. As for marriage that is an unnecessary artificial social construct and if some people feel like doing then that is their choice. Hearts fall in love and that can be mutually satisfying, and it may change over time. A solemn commitment, and a piece of paper will make no difference at all if the hearts feel like they no longer want to be together. When love dies papers can't fix it.
Are there any guys here that find me attractive?
WalterWhite comments on May 6, 2018:
Yes, but I am way too old for you! And I find your many interests attractive since they are similar to my own. I hope you find a guy near you that sees your qualities. There are many types of dating sites available out there, and some more gay centered. This one is more focused on qualities of mind and common interests for being the foundation of a good relationship. Good luck!

Hitler is indeed a misunderstood man, and mostly his psychotic cruel behavior in his years as Furher were not of his own choosing, but by that of Dr. Morell giving him uppers and downers, meth, and even experimental drugs. Dr. Morell apparently was under the influence of behind the scenes powers in Germany. Many war videos of Hitler show he was not a well man with hands trembling from so many drugs in his system. Here's a video on the details if anyone is interested in what drove Hitler to be as he was. https://youtu.be/AJ_1Acw5I3Y
Is the world in your head or is your head in the world?
WalterWhite comments on May 5, 2018:
I hope the world in not in my head, because sometimes things get lost in there. Still haven't found that memory of how I got that faded scar on my head. I am happy to know the world is outside my head, but I am part of that world as well. All I really know about 'out there' is an imperfect interpretation sent on to my consciousness, ME, from my MASTER brain also called my subconscious mind. It does all the hard calculating and analyzing the tons of incoming sensory data from ears, eyes and the others. And it correlates that with past memories and my usual patterns of behavior etc, and IT DECIDES what to send on to my conscious smaller thinking brain. Thankfully it almost always comes up with a really good view of what is out there. It is very reliable and accurate, but is prone to error from a dozen or more causes. But we get along well, and for many decades now I have trusted it to keep alert and working 24/7 even while I am asleep, or under anesthetic on an operating table still doing its chores.
Canadian invasion. eh?
WalterWhite comments on May 5, 2018:
I suppose I must confess the truth that these are special Canadian Air Force military trained geese equipped with GPS and miniaturized cameras under the wings. WalterWhite comments on May 5, 2018:
I believe in honesty and good communication, so if this relationship means a lot to you, then expressing your feelings and alternate possibilities is a fair thing to do. She might even welcome not feeling she is letting you down and may be agreeable as long as you are careful about health concerns. She could say no, and then then you'd have to decide if your sexual needs outweighed the other good parts of your relationship to need enough to end the relationship with her. But if the relationship is basically over anyway, then do as you will and separate if needed. Others may have some better ideas too.

Is it 'wrong' to love more than one person at the same time?
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
The idea of marriage forever has been steadily declining as the life expectancy has been rising, and Life has been getting more complicated. Modern young people are better educated and better connected socially to be aware of how so many "till death do you part" relationships actually fail for one reason or another. So to be more realistic and not have that unwanted pressure to stay with someone who changes over time to be someone they no long even like, they may go for 2 or 3 good shorter term relationships in their lifetime to be better fulfilled. We CAN know for certain that feelings, thoughts, and some parts of personalities WILL change because we all mature and evolve due to our own life experience. Often people can still stay together, and sometimes though they do drift apart, in which case it makes no sense to stay together and make each other's lives miserable. Better to go it alone, or take another spin of the wheel if the heart is so inclined. Just my ideas, and maybe others will have other ideas as well.
Does No Kids = Bad Person?
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
Only if you decide to think less of yourself about it. No need to compare yourself to others. I see no reason why it would be any "disadvantage" though, because the world is overflowing with children now that we do not have proper resources to look after. So you might be even be seen as good and responsible for not bringing kids into the uncertain and sometimes dangerous world we exist in. Well done, sir! But I think Rabbit was a poor choice of name if you do not plan to reproduce! :)
Humanity needs to be held accountable
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
Held accountable to whom or what? History clearly shows that human beings do not live their lives thinking long term, and we are often driven more by hidden emotional and psychological needs rather than careful planning or considering the consequences 10 or 20 years down the road. On a smaller scale in a family fro example, people know each other and can make decisions and plans using available resources and addressing the main needs and hopes of that small group of individuals. As people gather in larger groups that is increasingly harder to accomplish and quite often imbalances and injustices happen causing conflict and even violence as people strive to get what they perceive they need. What the Christians often are unaware of is that abortions were not unusual in Bible times, but from natural ones from poor living conditions, and self-induced ones doing well known jumping exercises and things like tying ropes around the women's middle. Women could do this on their own, but sometimes a mid-wife could help. The idea of an unborn baby having a "soul" did not arise until much later in Christian thought. It is already too late to save the fast declining ocean bacteria which actually produces 50% of the oxygen in every breath we take. And deforestation continues in many many areas. We are safely in the hands of Mother Nature though who has already begun unstoppable actions, and if hundreds of millions of humans have to go, that will be little different than in the past massive extinction events one of which erased about 90% of all life forms on the planet. The long term view is that Life will go on and new species will evolve, but whether our species continues on is irrelevant to Nature. Trump is not at all concerned about life 20 or 100 years from now for Americans, because he won't be here.

Is it ethical to teach Atheism to religious children?
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
Impossible to "teach" Atheism. Atheism has no beliefs, no doctrines, and no opinions on Creation, Evolution, morals, or how to make the best chocolate cake. It is only a personal decision a person comes to for their own reasons. You could teach skeptical thinking, logic, and sound reasoning though!

WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
You mean a story is not true just because it says it is? Qur'ans and Bibles do have their uses though, such as being good as doorstops, and they also come in handy for starting your campfire. We are all genetically wired to favor an opinion that we hear from people we know and trust, over the truth we hear from a stranger. And we like stories which favor our personal biases and beliefs. So it is vital that when it comes to important things in Life, that we take the time and do the work to gather as much good evidence as possible from as many reputable sources as possible to get closer to having truth. Manipulation of social media is a real danger now used by the powers that be for their own self-serving purposes. You can always trust me though because I am not planted by the Russians. And I am not a bot, not a bot, not a bot. Error file not found. rebooting...please wait... please wait... okay now, What was I saying?
Is intelligence a curse?
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
Intelligence can be a curse if one has forgotten that heart overall does much more to make life worthwhile. I think Mother Nature would say that intelligence is an amusing experiment, but perhaps unnecessary and impractical. So that is why she has designed the system so the less intelligent will be the ones more inclined to do most of the reproducing to ensure that Evolution does not turn men into Gods and really screw things up.

Why are atheists so certain there is not some sort of intelligent design?
WalterWhite comments on May 4, 2018:
Certainty is not required, just using good common sense and the the best methods we have for learning about the world and Universe around us and how things work. Science does not prove things to 100%, and we judge things by the degree of accuracy, and for not needing any Intelligent Designer, we have a very high degree of accuracy on that. We see a lot of bad "design' actually, with the Universe being virtually 100% fatal to human Life! Just like the famous Watchmaker's false argument for God, which was soon debunked after it emerged a couple hundred years ago, still today we have no need of any magic intelligent intervention to have the Universe be just as it is naturally is. While intelligence is interesting and vital for us humans, intelligence in fact is not required at all in the Universe, and it seems to be one trait Mother Nature is experimenting with in a relatively small number of species. Here is a man who is much more knowledgeable than I speaking on how unremarkable intelligence is: https://youtu.be/bu7VulZUUdE

No comedy, no. Numbness to feelings is a standard part of more serious depression or from being in a depressing situation for a long time. You may not be ready to feel something yet. Been there done that. The idea of getting out for a run is great if that is something you get enjoyment from, and even a long brisk walk would help with the brain chemicals. Play with the puppies, make a food you like, watch some sci-fi. You are still getting over stuff, so be kind to yourself and the ups and downs are normal. If you have some cheerful friends chat with them or do some activity like a movie or meal once or twice a week. letting go of the past and forgiving yourself and others will make it easier to look forward again, but that you will do at your own pace. hugs

Mild frustration and saying you did not take her feelings and ideas into account during the discussion. If you did and gave good reasons, do what you decided which she just agreed to let you do! If you didn't then backtrack and ask how important this is to her, and maybe to have you reconsider doing it her way or making a better compromise that she won't be so frustrated about. BUT if this is a common tactic she uses just to get her way, then you must be assertive and not give in too often.
Do Some Atheists Seem Superior?
WalterWhite comments on May 3, 2018:
People of all kinds can act superior and Atheism has nothing to do with it really. Truth is truth for all, but beliefs can be anything to anybody, and beliefs are open to interpretation and deceptive manipulation. The problem here is not Atheism or Science, but as you said bullying and acting superior. And again as you pointed out that is counterproductive and listeners just shut down hearing someone like that rant on. Religious belief is not really based on facts, logic or sound reasoning, so using ONLY those things when debating Theists is utterly useless. The underlying strength of religious beliefs is actually the feel good brain chemistry of how the beliefs in one god or another satisfies the person's inner and often hidden emotional and psychological needs. It's more like a mental addiction, and they will invent all kinds of deceptive excuses and interpretations to hold on to their comforting beliefs. Dealing with know it all people or those who aggressively act superior can be met with polite self-confidence and assertiveness, and just hold your position. It's okay to disagree. And to walk away from really hostile people of course. Hope others may offer some ideas too!

WalterWhite comments on May 3, 2018:
I have never met another human being who is not the same race as I am, that being Homo sapiens. All 7.6 billion humans on the planet, no matter what color they are, or what hair type, or what their favorite chocolate bar is, are all in that one race of Homo sapiens, and all are 99.9% genetically identical. So I see no reason really to pretend I am much different physically in any significant way from anyone else. I did get that red sunburn once, but I still felt like my race remained the same no matter what color my skin was! :)

In times of trouble or having worries that might keep me awake at night, I learned to place my mind in a state of thankfulness by remembering so many good times, nice people, and things Life blessed me with. So many times camping, wandering along the seashore, or through quiet forests, and even recalling past challenges that I managed to survive and deal with and to learn things from. Do this for 10 minutes or so and the brain chemistry gets more positive to help think up options that might not have come to mind when in a depressed state.

Is this me???
WalterWhite comments on May 3, 2018:
Maybe. You may have to make a greater effort to make sure you have some of the popular qualities they might be looking for, like being reasonably healthy and fit, with a variety of interests some active, and some like cuddling at home watching a movie. And maybe be aware many women are self-sufficient nowadays and not looking for a man to look after them, but to be an equal partner and maybe not even want to be tied down to a marriage and they might find a good close relationship with few strings attached might suit their needs. With your interest in music and art, and your good nature and experience with having traveled many places, you do seem to have things to offer a woman who appreciates those things. Takes time and a bit of daring to chat with some possible matches to learn more about them. Maybe others will have some hints too!

Is it better to legalize prostitution or keep it illegal
WalterWhite comments on May 3, 2018:
I'm in favor to make it legal as a regular business with standards for operation and safety for workers, and where health concerns are addressed as well as possible. I think we all know in most any large city there are places where these services are already offered as an alternative to finding women or men offering themselves on the streets. Modern technology is entering the picture for robot sex shops (such as in London and Paris) to go for a quickie throughout the day where STD's are no longer a problem. Also for those so inclined, cyber sex is now a reality where two people can stimulate each other rather bizarrely over the Internet. Let's hope there are no power surges.

If a true believer knows, without a doubt, that God is real and an atheist knows, without a doubt, ...
WalterWhite comments on May 3, 2018:
Atheists do not KNOW without a doubt there can be no gods. And all Atheism says it that it is a they lack belief in gods, and for most Atheists that comes from a lack of finding any evidence that is convincing to them. I do hear some Atheists say, "There is no God" when speaking with Theists. But that is in the context of the Gods of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and those of Hinduism, all as being silly gods created in the image of man and even with many weak human attributes. I don't think an educated Atheist would assert there can be no gods as a general unknown or unknowable type god concept, because then they would bear the unprovable burden of proof to support that assertion. Agnostics also do not KNOW there can be no proof either way, and Agnosticism only holds to the philosophical position that gods are unknowable. Being unknowable means Agnostics can not KNOW, right? :) I am an Apatheist which is a different view, and I have no beliefs or disbeliefs in gods, and just live my Life the same no matter if they are real or not.

Why would you take your cat to a vet just because it has a cold? Does it have some special weak condition that it would not recover on its own just like you do from a cold? Maybe issue with breathing or some other unusual symptom that has you concerned? It does look like the cat has the caws up in the eyes indicating there may be some pain though, you know it best and do what you think best. And pet insurance is a complicated thing depending on how much you are willing to spend and what conditions each type of policy covers. Purebred cats tend to have more health problems, so in that case it might be worthwhile if you do.
Population control
WalterWhite comments on May 2, 2018:
Mankind is too short-sighted to do much about the reckless population growth problem. Some of the climate damage is now already irreversible. Despite the warnings and stats, there is no worldwide public willpower to do anything serious about population control. The good efforts of say 500 million will not hold back the worsening of the situation by the lack of efforts by the other 7 billion. But it's okay because the situation is in the hands of higher power! That of course is Mother Nature who is already setting the wheels in motion to restore the balance, and she has no preference for one species over any other for who will survive. Earth has had 5 major Life extinction events already in the past, and one erased 90% of all life forms. Should be an interesting next couple of centuries.

The great thing is seeing how people present themselves and how they reply to popular questions so you get to see if there is any chemistry between you. I don't think it's a "sit back and they will come running to your door for a one night stand " kind of dating site. But I have only been here a couple months so maybe others have better info for you.

I would think instead that working with a model who is NOT a professional to even know what is usually expected would be the challenge.
Should we demand/expect for respect?
WalterWhite comments on May 2, 2018:
Neither. Respect is not something you can demand, and most often you can have it without earning it. Parents sometimes demand respect from their kids, when in truth they are asking obedience from their kids, and the kids still do not respect them if they deserve no respect, but maybe will obey. I love and respect all people, no matter who they are or what beliefs they have or not, or what culture they are from. I can love and respect the human beings without any need to love and respect their beliefs or their different customs in their culture. Just my weird view of things!
So why are women disgusted by men with...uuuhh, platinum (silver? gray?) hair? Just because we look ...
WalterWhite comments on May 2, 2018:
Disgusted seems a but strong. It's normal personal preferences, and perhaps self insecurity if you have it. Women might not like men with grey hair, or no hair, or a big belly or bad breath or red hair or too many muscles, or badly dressed, or being too young, in the exact same way some MEN might not like women with grey hair or no hair, or a big belly or bad breath or red hair or too many muscles, or badly dressed, or being too young for them. It's okay to be older. :)

WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
Exercise is very beneficial, but I do understand that it's hard to get motivated to get a routine going. It's great you did 10 minutes worth and yes, it is smart to start off slowly to let your body adjust to something new like this. When you work up to 15 to 20 minutes worth you might find your feel good brain chemicals kick in to make you mentally feel more energized and pleased with yourself, even though physically that can be more tiring. It's all good for helping the heart, and even helps you sleep better. Don't exercise in those hours just before going to bed though. Sounds like you are on the right track, so congratulations. :)
I see people complaining of too many messages and too much attention from people they don’t like....
WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
Well, speaking for myself I think it's because the only thing you and I have in common is we don't like overcooked meat. But if I was straight and 20 years younger that might be enough! :) This seems to be more of a Community for making cyber friends and having social contact with more intelligent and thankfully much less religious people about a lot of practical and interesting topics. People with various problems in their lives seem to come here for advice and support as well. They did just start up a Singles Group for those more interested in dating. Most of those compatible with me are many hundreds of miles away since mostly it is Americans here, and I am Canadian. If you are near a large city there are probably other local dating sites that might give quicker results for you. Guess you might have to send messages yourself to any prospective guys that catch your attention and catch their attention. Good luck!

WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
Men are protectors of their own families, and the more enlightened ones may be protectors of anyone who needs protecting. Women too can take on the role of protecting those who need protecting of course, beyond just their own children. Homocide is the killing of men, but over time it has broadened it's meaning to be for any human being. Femicide and gynaecide are both killing of women, but both of those are rarely used. Killing to me is an irrational immoral act from some misguided state of mind. Men kill about 6 times more often than women with some genetic and psychological factors probably accounting for that. Men more often kill for revenge, jealousy, just the thrill, or to cover something else up, whereas women most often kill for personal gain of money, property, or a misguided idea it is the loving thing to do. The news story on this van case says THIS killer was inspired by one of another man several years ago in California who was brainwashed in some extremist anti-feminism groups there. So this was also the actions of a brainwashed psychotic man driven nuts by a bad ideology, much like some men get brainwashed and driven to kill by misguided religious ideologies against women, gays and people in other religions. No excuse for murder like this. :(

Religious friends keep sending me religious text?
WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
You did say she was a friend, which means you should be free to express your feelings, and thoughts. You said you have only ignored the messages instead of being honest to assertively say the messages bothered you, right? Also, she may be doing it out of habit to some extent if she talks Jesus to everyone. So give her the benefit of the doubt, and speak up and tell her that it DOES bother you, and ask that she try to stop. Friends like to cooperate and avoid doing annoying things, right? So she deserves the chance to be asked and to try. Problem solved. But if she refuses, or soon falls back into the same annoying pattern, no matter how well meaning from her point of view, then she was not a friend in the first place. You have thousands of other people as possible friends.

WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
Those are the main ones, but Uncle Google just told me that the Moon also helps stabilize the rotation of the Earth on its axis. With total darkness at night many nocturnal animals would not be able to see like they now do for hunting. Also humans could not see as well at night. What else can I say? There once was a time of no Moon, So romance was gone very soon, In dark they would huddle, But no light to cuddle, No kisses, no weddings in June! :)
Die for your beliefs?
WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
Living is always the right answer, because it gives you further future options. Believing is easy to fake anyway. If it were a more serious choice, like raping someone or killing them, I would prefer to die. But that would not be dying for my beliefs, but dying for my moral principles for whom I choose to be.
Free Will?
WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
That is not free will. :) Free will is nothing like what you are talking about, which actually seems to be getting anything you want. You are talking more about having a magic genii with a million wishes, or being GOD I think! Free will is just being able to make your own choices for things that are possible in your Life. Go to work, or not go to work and take the consequences. Free will is different than DIVINE Will. :) Technically humans do not really have true free will in the sense people usually mean, but for practical purposes what we do have seems good enough to be free will for every day purposes.
Sam Harris - A Collection Of Arguments Every Believer and Atheist Should Know About - YouTube
WalterWhite comments on May 1, 2018:
This is interesting for non-believers, but Theists do not hold their beliefs so dear and take the stories on faith by basing things on facts, logic or sound reasoning. So that is sound arguments have very little effect on changing the mind of a Theist. I have had the better luck by connecting on an emotional and psychological level first, to bypass the built in distrust. Most often older people are too far gone being fearful and stubborn to reach by any method. But I have had some luck with a small number of educated younger people who still had open minds, and were willing to try to understand how they came to believe the things they do. The Socratic method popular with street epistemologists seems to be effective in some cases too. I love Sam's many books and great ideas, too..

You are not lost without her. I do empathize with your pain and it will take time for you to accept the reality that your love will not be returned. But maybe for now you need to focus on YOUR feelings and YOUR needs. Can't say how long it will take, but once fully apart it will slowly get easier. Especially if you take some steps to heal and explore adding new interests in your life. No need to go seeking dates right away. Make some effort to keep your body and mind healthy, and go for walks, spend time with other friends if possible for activities like a meal out, or a movie, or just chatting on other topics on the phone. It's okay to feel the pain or cry, but no need to wallow in it. Keep busy and trust that you still have possibilities for the future. In time I hope you might even the point of wishing her well to hope she finds what she wants and needs. I hope in time you will feel better. Just words from someone who has gone through this twice, and now looking for another chance! peace

Thanks so much for having a loving compassionate heart and doing what you could. Many things in Life are beyond our abilities and sometimes Life is not fair, it just is what it is. I know such platitudes do not stop the pain and are not very comforting. I have held the hands of elderly people dying while I worked in health care too, and sometimes I felt honored and thankful to be a caring part of their last hours when they had no one else in the world who cared. But for the death of a child, who has not even had a chance to experience much of life, the pain must be unbearable. Be kind to yourself. hugs.

It's the 21st century people. They have devices to sexually stimulate each other over the Internet. STD free! LOL ! But definitely not my style, and I suspect cybersex in a real "relationship" is of interest to only a very small percentage of people. I try not to judge, but I crave a real body, sensual massaging, tender loving kisses all over, hugging and loving with real emotions and responses. Even cold feet or an occasional fart are part of the that real humanity, and I will never get tired of it. :)

I know nothing about the rules and regulations, credentials and qualifications and institution policies and requirements and expectations for what you are doing. But I do know a lot about human psychology and mental stress. The chaos and stress and ineffective methods, bad working conditions, and mentally disturbed aggressive people you deal with, and being forced to give people grades they do not deserve, all add up to being way too much stress which is harming you mentally and possible physically with things like lack of sleep etc. I admire your integrity and dedication for trying to be a good teacher through all this. I can't solve your problem, but from an outsider's view I would suggest if you can't resolve your working conditions and grading methods with your supervisors this will just get worse and worse till something snaps. It's great you are asking for advice and help. For your own sanity you may have to consider other employment options or moving to a different area to use the good skills you have. In Asia and other places they crave English teachers and pay them well and often give them free living accommodations. But I expect you have ties and responsibilities to keep you where you are. Hope that was of some help anyway.

Only reason to live?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 30, 2018:
No, that would be a secondary reason at best. My reason to live is primarily to fulfill myself as a human being and be who I choose to be. An important part of that involves my relationships with others in my family and friends circle, as well as concern for the extended circle of mankind in general, and the environment. Living only for someone else would be a dysfunctional codependent situation at best.

It's a false, but perhaps an attractive idea to some people. The purpose of life is to survive and to thrive for every species, and for humans part of that thriving involves doing unto others and cooperating in order and peace MOST of the time to ensure our survival. If a high percentage of humanity did nothing but please themselves, that would not be good long term obviously. I have no problem with people treating themselves and celebrating life to the full sometimes of course. I think we need diversity and challenges in our lives to feel alive. :)

Sorry to hear you are dealing with so many confusing conditions. It sounds like you are a person who has many health issues and who also happens to be an Atheist. I think the people here are just normal people like you with various mental troubles and conditions too, and not medical experts to direct you on actually treating your conditions. I suppose you have looked into joining a support group in your area to be able to share your feelings and experiences in a safe and supportive place. They can't solve your problems of course, but it's good to hear how others with similar issues manage to keep some sanity and get through each day. I hope others here who have your conditions can offer more practical ideas than, I have been able to. hugs
