On a somewhat related note (origins). It seems to me from antiquity and beyond, that every religion boils down to giving god a new name. You come up with a name that resonates, and whatever backstory arises will satisfy a certain number of adherents, enough to stake your claim in the pantheon. Your interactions will evolve over time in conjunction with longevity, and whatever power struggles took place, both inner and outwards. It's why I like to use the Adventure Time "Oh, my Glob!" or FSM references as their backstories appeal to me. As an atheist/agnostic, can also speak in the common vernacular, with its very usage revealing a substantial bit of godview even with limited knowledge of either. Imagine someone sincerely asking, "Who are these Gods I am unfamiliar with?" I'd love to give the backstory, but would still promise never to go door to door with it (unless there was money in it. Your approach might be different).

Have to admit being to being a bit surprised at some of the negative reactions based on it not being appropriate somehow in a singles/mingles/chat group? Because of the cartoon format? Because it is seen as too risque? Because if taken literally that it cannot be thought of as anything but offensive? I thought it prompted some interesting and fun discussion, both pro and con. Singles discussing various aspects of sexualty (in group appropriate terms of course) seems to be a no-brainer for a group where you'd want to get a feel for the mindset of people you might want to date, but then maybe that's just me. I usually excpect this much pearl clutching from the god-botherers, but it's easily just as possible that I'm incredibly boorish with an utter lack of self-awareness. Perhaps I should just go back to lurking with the occasional short little generic tidbits of approval or solidarity. Good luck to all of us in our individual quests to connect with that potentially special someone in meaningful ways.

I actually was quite astonished that two of the most adventurous and playful lovers I ever had the pleasure to become intimate with both said the same thing to me. "I liked our lovemaking because you *made* me do things." While this may sound troubling on its surface, it wasn't like that at all. It was a case of two lovers wanting to please the other and were alert to the cues of what was giving each the most pleasure. It reminded me of a comic who was describing what good lovemaking becomes. He said that if you've ever seen two tigers mating, there's all that raw power just barely held in check, as they wend their way through the dance as it were.

A 50-Year Occupation: Israel’s Six-Day War Started With a Lie
WilliamCharles comments on Mar 29, 2019:
"The trick of declaring war against the armed resistance and then attacking the resisters’ unarmed kin as well as the surrounding population with the most gruesome products of Death-Science; this trick is not new. American Pioneers were pioneers in this too; they made it standard practice to declare war on indigenous warriors and then to murder and burn villages with only women and children in them. This is already modern war, what we know as war against civilian populations; it has also been called, more candidly, mass murder or genocide. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised that the perpetrators of a Pogrom portray themselves as the victims, in the present case as victims of the Holocaust. Herman Melville noticed over a century ago, in his analysis of the metaphysics of Indian-hating, that those who made a full-time profession of hunting and murdering indigenous people of this continent always made themselves appear, even in their own eyes, as the victims of manhunts. The use the Nazis made of the International Jewish Conspiracy is better known: during all the years of atrocities defying belief, the Nazis considered themselves the victimized. It’s as if the experience of being a victim gave exemption from human solidarity, as if it gave special powers, as if it gave a license to kill." WilliamCharles comments on Mar 26, 2019:
I woke up this morning to author Arthur Brooks on C-SPAN speaking about loving your enemies at the AIPAC conference. I just posted this on his Facebook page. :-----: Just watched your AIPAC speech. I do not see how there is any love in supporting an apartheid state murdering the innocent on a regular basis. The love I see is from those working for justice for *all* the people of Palestine. What I see from AIPAC is the constant smearing of those involved in this endeavor. What I see from the AIPAC side is the type of people who mock the horrific death of murdered peace activist Rachel Corrie by holding an annual pancake breakfast. The side that elevates the Hebron mosque shooter to the status of national hero. The side that hypocritically points the finger at Iran for their legal nuclear program as signers of the NNPT as they lie about their own undeclared nukes. I see your side as continuing to turn truth on its head. I see your side on the wrong side of history every bit as much as the former apartheid regime of South Africa. I see with much pain how much AIPAC perverts and corrupts our own government with their disdain for truth-tellers. Your message reminds me of Elie Wiesel's message of a commitment to justice for the downtrodden, that incredibly never made it to encompassing the beleaguered people of Palestine, who have suffered under the boot heel of the Zionist invaders for decades. That, I feel, will be coming to an end soon. Because of true love. Not the lip service couched in words of love you spoke in the support of those who would continue to brutalize the people of Palestine. That is the difference.
Yeah, we get told a lot of things that turn out not to be true.

Jamie Raskin that Trump should be opposed on a principled, progressive basis – not with a phony intel intrigue cooked up by spooks and Clinton dead enders,” Blumenthal added. “Like most Dems, he went with Russiagate & wound up emboldening Trump.” “For almost three years I’ve been lambasted every single day for ‘defending Trump’ because I rejected that there was ample evidence for a Trump/Russia global espionage conspiracy,” tweeted journalist Michael Tracey. “You know who was really ‘defending Trump’ after all? The people who promoted this nonsense.” “I’m not gleeful – just disgusted that much of the US media spent 2 years spreading baseless (but very dangerous) conspiracy theories and mindlessly believing what their CIA, NSA and FBI sources whispered to them without seeing evidence – yet again,” tweeted journalist Glenn Greenwald."
