The New Testament lost me at Matthew 1:1 - 1:16 when reflecting upon it.

They wanted to show that Jesus was a priest-king like Melchizedek: For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek - Hebrews 7:17. Matthew did the descendency of JC from a king (David) and Luke did it from a priest (Levi). Not every body was happy with the part of Joseph (from Levi the priest) because the Bible claimed he wasn't the real father of JC. Others say JC was his adopted son, which was the same thing under Jewish law.

I think there was a moral dilemma during WW2 about whether to risk human lives to save art from the Nazis. The consensus seemed to be in favour of the risk. I guess they concluded art was, in a sense, more important than individual lives. I think I understand this in an abstract kind of way but I wouldn't like to be one of the individuals sacrificed for the sake of European culture, much as I value it.

The Bible says the tree of the knowledge of good and evil made Adam and Eve like God in knowing good and bad. They were denied continued access to the tree of life because it would allow them to live forever. What would have been so bad about this? Maybe you couldn't really know about good and bad without experience and a human lifetime of experience is enough for anyone to endure. It amazes me that these essential questions were never answered.

I'm reading a lot lately about the rational mind which has been in ascendancy sine the Enlightenment. He was dismissed as mad for his opinions on how the brain works and how rationality is the bane of our existence.

So much for the ministry of the reconciliation! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. - 2 Corinthians 5:18,19. My guess is this perversion of the Christian message has come about through the ideological divide in society.
