COLLECTING IDEAS! THOUGHTS PLEASE. What do you think would be a good plant /tree for this ...
glennlab comments on Feb 1, 2019:
Another idea is thornless blackberries, they are a bieneial crop, that is the berries grow on last years growth. Lots of pruning to remove this years fruit bearing stems. First year plant them about 6 feet apart, the new plants will fill in between them.
glennlab replies on Feb 1, 2019:
@Count I would check out the local nurseries, they normally have a good selection and the plants are well developed, locally acclimated and you can see what you are getting. Drip irrigation will provide good supply of water. some mail order companies are good, but I shy away from any that promise way better results than anyone else. Your root stock is a long term investment, it will be with you 20-30 years under the right conditions, so select carefully .

glennlab replies on Jan 31, 2019:
@ATDayHiker Treaty law can be a bitch to work with. Had I not had to work with it, I probably would not have the working knowledge I do and that is still subject to actually having to read the substance of the document to note any weird stuff that only applies to that one treaty. But all treaties signed by the president have the force of law in the US, a treaty that has not been ratified can either be enforced or ignored by future or even the same president. Once the treaty has been ratified it takes a more complex mechanism to reverse it.

If the Russians are out of compliance, are given 60 days to take action after they are notified that we consider them out of compliance, then the treaty can be nullified 6 months later if no action is taken by the senate. We are in the final 2 weeks of the 60 notification period.

Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, said North Korea is “unlikely to completely give up” its nuclear stockpiles and Iran is not trying to develop nuclear weapons. Both statements contradict the Trump administration, which met with North Korea and abandoned the Iran nuclear deal.CreditCreditSarah Silbiger/The New York Times By David E. Sanger and Julian E. Barnes Jan. 29, 2019 WASHINGTON — A new American intelligence assessment of global threats has concluded that North Korea is “unlikely to give up” all of its nuclear stockpiles, and that Iran is not “currently undertaking the key nuclear weapons-development activity” needed to make a bomb, directly contradicting two top tenets of President Trump’s foreign policy. Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, also challenged Mr. Trump’s insistence that the Islamic State had been defeated, a key rationale for his decision to exit Syria. The terrorist group “still commands thousands of fighters in Iraq and Syria,” and maintains eight branches and a dozen networks around the world, the annual report to Congress said. Mr. Trump is expected to meet next month with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, in a second round of negotiations aimed at ridding the country of its nuclear weapons. But Mr. Coats told the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that “we currently assess North Korea will seek to retain its W.M.D. capability and is unlikely to completely give up its nuclear weapons and production capability.” “Its leaders ultimately view nuclear weapons as critical to regime survival,” Mr. Coats said. Gina Haspel, the C.I.A. director, said the North Korean government was “committed to developing a long-range nuclear-armed missile that would pose a direct threat to the United States.” Under questioning by Senator Kamala Harris, Democrat of California, Ms. Haspel said it was encouraging that North Korea had engaged in dialogue with the United States. But, she said, ultimately the diplomatic objective had to be to persuade Pyongyang to fully disclose its program and dismantle its weapons. Former intelligence officials have expressed a degree of skepticism about the coming meeting, given the relatively modest steps North Korea has taken toward throttling its nuclear program. On Iran, Mr. Coats cited the nation’s continued support of terrorism in Europe and the Middle East, including sponsoring Houthis in Yemen and Shiite militants in Iraq. He also said that he believed that Iran hard-liners would continue to challenge centrist rivals. Trump patriarch was deported from Germany for draft evasion, thus beginning a long history of failure to support their nation.

@Closeted No he left the country until the age window for service had ended, thinking he could return without repercussions and they deported him for refusing to serve his country.

glennlab replies on Jan 29, 2019:
Economists are pegging it as a $26 Billion cost to the economy that we will never recover, the damage to markets, both foreign and domestic will take years to recover from. Most people do not understand what the government does and just follow the Reagan myth that it is evil.

glennlab replies on Jan 29, 2019:
@phxbillcee On aa different day, I might too. I am recovering from a "short trip" to help a friend get her car back from her dad's place were it was getting repaired after breaking down there over Christmas, 200 miles one way. This is the day after just coming back from a weekend trip. So my patience is a little thin.

They can tunnel, they can use ladders, they can take a boat, and if they want to and really think it through they can fly in and just overstay their visas. Might even find a rich billionaire to marry after working for an escort service.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases there is, it can spread just from being in the same room 2 hours after the person has left and it can be stopped by a simple vaccine.

glennlab replies on Jan 28, 2019:
Frigid, now that's a term I haven't heard in a long time, Name calling is the last vestige of a person that has lost the argument and the neanderthals are fighting a war they can't win, but they may still get a few battlefield victories.

Those born between 1954-1965 are called 'Generation Jones'; the difference being they weren't necessarily born to WW2 veterans. Also defining them was the lack of a specific political cause like the Vietnam war.

@Doubting I did as little research, and it is attributed to one author in 2000 who is not quite a well respected author, It was built on a desire to create a different group for marketing purposes. Demographics being what they are, it is promoted by marketing people mores so than anthropologists. Thanks for making me a bit more knowledgeable.

glennlab replies on Jan 28, 2019:
@Unclehotrod Trump did not spend the $2 billion allocated for last year, so it is not a priority and if the money is there for a wall, it costs a lot less to actually maintain a decent immigration system. I have been in foreign countries that issue an arrest warrant the day after your visa expires. No such system here, with all the computer systems, it would be a few $100 million to have an adequate system to alert local law enforcement to go out and pick up the over stayers.
Give it a few years.

glennlab replies on Jan 28, 2019:
Never heard it called that, and it is really quite incorrect, I was born in 1954 and served in SE Asia during the war. Everyone I knew was involved in the cause either for or against the war. Many of my friends fathers had served in WWII, where did you find this?
