As @RavenCT stated, Civics & a basic Ethics course is not a bad idea, along with a basic Economics course, such as balancing a checkbook & what interest on credit cards is. But, I also agree with @CaroleKay, "...what about the parents?" Most of those issues that you mention should be addressed from when children are very young, & explained & answered in more detail as they grow older. Schools can only do so much, especially with as underfunded as so many of them are!

The added 'sugar', no matter the form it takes, in almost all foods has created a "taste" in us for more 'sweet'. They could halve the amount of sugar in almost everything right now, & not only would folks get used to it fairly rapidly, but probably find they enjoy it more. I find most products far too sweet, & I can't eat fake sweeteners. Most taste so bitter & often give me an immediate headache, let alone the potential health problems now associated with them. As far as cannabis, yes, folks, vote. Many candidates are on the record regarding their stance on legalization. If they aren't, make a point & get them on the record! & then...VOTE!

The harvesting of stem cells can now be done in many ways, but even when it was taken from embryos, most of the time it was from the 'excess' embryos from in vitro fertilization, which are often otherwise just discarded. How many anti-stem cell folks are lining up at these clinics to be implanted with all these extra potential "babies"??? & how many of them take advantage of the services of these clinics, knowing full well what is entailed?
