seattlepanda comments on Nov 17, 2018:
There are actually two Washington states, Western WA and Eastern WA, separated by the Cascade Mountain range. They are as different as can be. Different terrain, weather, economy, politics. I don't know other states of such distinctive halves. Eastern WA is dry, weather comes from north or south so very cold winters, very hot summers. Relatively sparse population, a lot of ranching and agriculture. There are deserts in SE WA. Western WA is a maritime climate with almost all weather coming in from the ocean. Mild winter and summer temps., lush and green as we get frequent rain. When asked to describe our geography I suggest a popular movie(TV?), "Twilight". Was filmed in our rain forest area, but much of W.WA looks like this. Your geography lesson for the day... ;D

Is there anyone here that values the teachings of the bible, but rejects it's supernatural elements?...
seattlepanda comments on Oct 30, 2018:
Similar to Confucius and his anelects, the old testament likely codified certain practices in ancient society that were widespread in acceptance(for whatever reason)and contributed to societal stabilization. The new testament, was an attempt to reconcile a modern day teacher(Jesus) to these Torah stories, in the process to establish a new church. Today we live in a post-christian world. While our laws and mores are based on Christian values, very few actually believe the underpinning beliefs.

seattlepanda comments on Oct 30, 2018:
I consider theists and athiests similarly in that each assert a positive belief in a circumstance unproved, that there exists a god or that there does not exist whatever god. Agnostics don't know one way or the other, and frankly, this agnostic doesn't care.
