Portland is a diverse community with a creative approach in diverting the hate groups.
tinkercreek comments on Aug 18, 2019:
And this just popped up: “So here’s what happened in my pristine city yesterday whilst I worked on the other side of town. Two right-wing groups from Florida held an “End Domestic Terrorism” rally on the Waterfront. One of the groups, the “Proud Boys,” was led by Joe Briggs; an associate of Alex Jones’ InfoWars. In addition to the Proud Boys, the White Nationalist American Guard (a hardcore racist and anti-Semitic group founded in Indiana) and the Three Percenters (an anti-government paramilitary group out of Alabama), joined the mêlée. The Daily Stormers (a neo-Nazi group patterned after Hitler’s SA), were also reportedly in attendance. To their credit, the far-right “Oath Keepers” declined to attend the rally due to the presence of the White Nationalists. These uninvited guests were confronted by several local liberal organizations, including Rose City “Antifa” (a conjunctive term for anti fascist). Lots of scuffles, thirteen arrests, clubs, poles, bear spray confiscated, but apparently no major violence broke out—amazingly enough. It all unwound when the Florida interlopers quietly asked the Portland Police Bureau to provide them with protection so that they could skedaddle from the scene. President Donald Trump tweeted in his own 2¢ worth: "Major consideration is being given to naming ANTIFA an ‘ORGANIZATION OF TERROR. Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the Mayor will be able to properly do his job!” Proud Boys organizer Joe Briggs responded to Trump’s tweet: “Go look at President Trump’s Twitter. He talked about Portland, said he’s watching Antifa. That’s all we wanted.” These punks came to Portland because we're Portland: The antithesis of who they are and what they represent. But once they realized they were outnumbered and just how unwelcome their message of hate was, they asked our police bureau for help. So that’s all you need to know about what happened here yesterday. Neo-Nazis, InfoWars, Proud Boys, The Daily Stormers, The White Nationalist American Guard and the Three Percenters all came here to show us how tough they are. They were soon outnumbered by anti-fascist organizations, largely unviolently, which led to the right-wingers asking for police protection. 👉🏼 And the President of the United States threatened to label the anti-fascists an “ORGANIZATION OF TERROR.” Effectively giving tacit support to the forces of racism, bigotry and hate. And they said it can’t happen here.” ~ Bruce Lindner

Awww, best thing I've read today! I have FB friends back to 2nd grade, with whom I feel a bond that exceeds the reality of time and distance. It is "the knowing" of one another in youth, times shared that will never be recreated, and I cherish them all.
This is going to be kind of profound question.
tinkercreek comments on Aug 17, 2019:
No, No, and No. Many of us have grown in life through a series of experiences, rather than a life-long partner from high school forward, which sounds a bit creepy to me now. Everyone is unique in their carnal aptitude, which depends strongly on individual chemistry. OK, except for the creeps who slept with the same person for 30 years. Get tested for STI's, for cryin' out loud, and remove the doubt, share the lab report, and get on with your life.
I was out walking had seen the tiniest lizard, he was on the floor of the greenhouse.
tinkercreek comments on Aug 17, 2019:
So cute! We lived on a farm with lots of acreage when I was young, and there was a sizeable dirt bank along one trail that became our "Lizard Town" in the summer. Think little dugout dirt condos. Occasionally we would catch one, which must have been ill, and took it to our 'Animal Hospital', the sectioned underside of an overturned wooden trailer. Some may have survived, along with garter snakes, grasshoppers, and woolie caterpilars, but my medical skills left something to be desired back then.

I had a very successful arch rebuild for arthritis in my foot 12 yrs ago, and suddenly one hip is rated as 'severe', nearly bone-on-bone, and looking at replacement. No, I don't have 10K for stem cell. Have a good surgeon, lots of positive feedback from others' experience, and just want to be able to walk again. Right now I max out 15-20 mins walking with a cane, very few steps without it, when 3 mos ago I was hiking, dancing, landscaping. Such a very odd reality, and I want it fixed! '

tinkercreek comments on Aug 10, 2019:
A great learning for me was to let go of thinking in terms of 'recipes', and just eat real food, prepared simply, lots of veges and NO BREAD. Yes, I read what you wrote, and several years ago I would have said the same. Just reduce it a bit at a time, enjoy good clean food flavors without salts, sugars, and fats, and your tastes will change naturally. Roasting veges with just a bit of olive oil and natural sea salt brings out a lovely array of flavors. Think of meats as more of a side dish, serving size less than the size of your fist, about 6 oz. bobwrj is exactly right, in that even whole grains metabolize to more sugars than your system needs, and that creates craving for more, a tough circle to break out of. Give it a try - it doesn't have to hurt!

tinkercreek comments on Aug 8, 2019:
Hahaha, my son-in-law's (whom I love) Mum is the only one sheltered and clueless enough to ask nearly ALL of those things. I don't believe she knows how it is all received, bless her little forever-married heart. She's had a good life with a really wonderful man, and is absolutely baffled over how anyone lives differently. It sometimes takes a bit of effort to redirect conversation, but I'm learning! And NO, I would never ask them of another, unless within a mutual sharing of the single experience.

In a sense, we were so fortunate to have grown up with the riches of the wild in north Florida.
tinkercreek comments on Aug 6, 2019:
I also got at least a few years, from age 4-7, on a farm in the coastal foothills of Oregon, just outside the very small town of Gaston. Forest, hills, pastures, streams, and ponds. Deer, raccoon, squirrel, skunk, chipmunks, lizards and salamanders. Strawberries, blackberries, apples, pears, cherries and rhubarb growing wild. As a mom of youngsters I could not imagine turning them loose in the wild for hours as I was, yet it was a time I cannot imagine living without. We only raised a few calves for the freezer locker, but the neighbor's Clydesdales, Big John and Belle, wandered over during the Columbus Day storm and stayed a few weeks until fences were repaired.
Well that explains a lot!

I looked further, and the narrative on her is great: This girl died at the age of 20. She was buried with a baby on her chest. Probably, her death was caused by difficult childbirth. The DNA is not so well preserved, but from other discovered graves of that period, it can be said that the people who lived in Brighton (United Kingdom) were not white. Their skin color was similar to that of modern people from North Africa.
