Any ideas on on-line dating. How does one tell if the other person is real or truthful?

Do we EVER really know if someone is real or truthful ? Ever ? You take a chance, and jump in.

You don't! I found an atheist woman on OK Kupid and read all her answers and she had put looking for lasting relationship. I was too. We meet up and I thought it went well we had some different likes some I never tried before. Maybe I was too eager because she sent a text saying she was just looking for someone to hang out with off and on sort of what she said she I was too serious. Well at 63 how much time do I have for romance and love making?

I there with you -- I'm 64.

It sounds like she had a change of heart. She may have had certain intentions that were truly desired, but could have shifted once she got to know you. It happens . That's what dating is about, "trying on" people to see if they "fit".

As for the time you may, or may not have for romance - it can occur as long as you believe it can.
Better luck next time !

Thank you for the positive feedback. To those who assume I'm an idiot -- it doesn't say that there is much empathy or sympathy in you. I wish you good luck in your endeavors.

Check the basement for bodies when you visit

Ahh good one !!! What if you don't make it out of the basement?

@IamNobody depends if there's leather and chains involved .

@Simon1 ha ha ha why I didn't think about that !!!! (I hope you're having as much fun as I am with all this silly stuff)

@Simon1 I thought you were talking about Arsenic and Old Lace. 🙂

Have you ever watched a TV show called "Catfishing"? Google the term to find out what that means. The reality is that you have no way of knowing anything about a person from posts or chats or anything online. Their pictures could all be phonies. Everything they say could be lies. If you're looking to meet people online, don't spend a lot of time "getting to know them". Ask to meet. make it a very public place, especially if you're a woman. Be cautious.

This is the absolute truth.

Ive only known one person who tried it... Has gotten into two live with situations.... The 1st question the survey(???) asked he took 7 yrs off his age. I think ive told little white lies in cantinas to prospective lovers
im not sure id want to date some one this 'match' way.... But in data bases there was always the saying "shit in... Shit out"... He couldnt answer the 1st question honestly.??. Boluck... R

Hi, xyz, and welcome to the website,

You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.

Also, the website uses your profile to find member matches, so the more details you include, the better the match.

Then you make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges; for instance, at level two you can private email people. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

...you take your chances! Lol. Seriously, you need some real time with a person! If you don’t want to do a background check on them, you will need to be very intuitive! If something does not feel right, move on! Even if you were mistaken...it will pan out in the end! Life is short...live with some caution, but don’t stake your life on it!

You don't have to ask yourself those kinds of questions if you get off your butt and go out and meet people like it was done in the old days.

I generally ask background questions to begin with, and I'm now assuming we are to the point that we're having a phone conversation. Where were you born and raised, brothers and sisters, schooling, your occupation, where else have you lived, marriages, committed relationships, religion, politics, hobbies, interests, what would you look for in a partner. There are many things to talk about, especially in a first time conversation. I want to decide if I'd like to talk further with this person, do I find them interesting, do we have many things in common? First time conversations can tell a lot and you should be able to get a good idea about where you want go next, or do you even want to go further?

You interact with them and your intuition will tell you.

There is no way to know for certain anything about an online person unless you meet them in person. Even video chat on cam can be deceptive.
