Surely you're joking, Mr Feynman! He was an American original.

Original indeed.... I learned about him while reading history books about Manhattan project. One thing leads to another, next thing I know I was reading "Surely you're joking Mr Feynman". Among other ones I have found along the way. His biography (personal life) is quite remarkable. Playing bongos at Rio de Janeiro with pros as a "hobby"?.. how cool is that? He was a character, let alone one of the best Physicist ever.

Isn't that how we ended up with vatican city?

I would think that works best if you're as intelligent as he was.

My interpretation of "undisciplined, irrelevant and original" is that even if one is intelligent, one still need to work hard to get to the bottom of things

Anyone who doesnt know who Feynman is, need not reply !

How are they going to learn about him then? I'll say welcome them, let them ask and discover

@IamNobody Agreed. I prefer this one...

The highest forms of understanding we can achieve are laughter and human compassion.

Richard Feynman

@Hitchens I don't think I can say that I have seen this quote before. There are few very good videos in YouTube. Interviews when he was at the end of the road. Very cool guy with simple and interesting approach to everything he did, technical or philosophical. Again, I don't recognize this quote but most definitely I can picture him saying "laughter and human compassion". I truly wonder why isn't he more popular?

@IamNobody Don't bother with utube for quotations..google is the go-to resource for that.
Super interesting human..so smart..but NEVER ever elitist about that..prefered fun curiosity and simplicity when possible.. Understood so much..but claimed to really know so little..a Human being ..very down to earth and a very affable fellow.

@Hitchens agree... One last comment, I meant YouTube to see footage of the real him talking, it's another dimension to try to know the person a little bit better

@IamNobody
Oh I see I'm with you now..yes ? I misunderstood ?

@Hitchens no biggie ??

I wish he was around to lead a 9/11 investigation like he did with the Challenger.

@RobLawrence Why say ye that? PM is fine.

What would he need to investigate 9/11 for?

@buzz13 - The physics don't add up and the NIST report seemed to be a whitewash.
