Good luck. Iā€™d consider immigrating.

i would try very hard to leave and move to Europe or North America. I know it is a death sentence to be a non-believer in your country. Stay safe.

Hey... leave to enjoy your life. You only got one. Don't be miserable all the time.

hey there everyone .. thanks for supports .. i would like leaving here .. but u can't understand how bad this place is .. they won't let u leave the country until spend 2 years in military ... its not optional .. and for those who say be safe .. im done with my life .. u can't imagine how hard it is to live with some muslims ( they are bad as ISIS ) .. i actually looking forward that government find my place and execute me .. so maybe on that time ..newspapers and UN take some action in iran ..

It is better to die with honor, than to live without !!

I wish you could message our other member from Egypt because he has the same dilemma. Perhaps he will see your post and message you back.

honor doesn't mean shit when you're dead

@Marz and if u are silent when u see dictatorship and cruelty ... u are bad as dictators ... whats the meaning of life .. when u don't live anymore .. u just breath air .. no freedom .. no happiness... no economic stablety .. no safety ... u can't imagine how hard life is in some countries ...

I totally understand - the stories I have heard!

My late partner, Parvin, was from Abadan. Her family lives in Shiraz. She immigrated to TX on a student visa at 24 (1977). Her brother moved his family to Dubai and now live in Vancouver, BC. (Dallas, LA and Vancouver have huge numbers of Iranians). LA is referred to as Tehangeles.
When, Parvin was growing up her mother fostered her questioning and was a lifelong Atheist. She often said that if she stayed in Iran because of her mouth she would either be in jail or dead.
She was there for no Roz in 2016. She said things have gotten better. Her family are all non-believers.

A friend of mine has family in Tehran. He tells me that things are somewhat relaxed there. People have stills in their basements to make alcohol, eat pork secretly, etc. I can't imagine what it'd be like to live in such an oppressive society. Stay strong.

I am sure you would not know, but did your family ever tell you how Iran was before 1979?

That is sad, I have met people from your country here and they are Zoroastrian (as was Freddie Mercury I think)and of course have no problem here declaring their religion, pity in their own country they would not be able to declare being non religious.

4

don't know how easy it is for you to leave Iran, and Live eslewhere, but any chance you get, you should definately take it. Best of luck. Only wish that there was something we could do to help

This is religion.

No

I feel compassion for you. Parts of USA are just overrun with religious fanatics, but as long as you live in a fairly large city, you can find lots of non-believers. In the bible belt south, if you are openly atheist, you can get your house egged, or maybe someone will "out" you and your boss will find a flimsy excuse to fire you ... but still we have it nice compared to other countries. I chatted with an Egyptian - his best friend came out atheist and got murdered by religious bullies. Awful.

We are lucky that our founding fathers insisted on freedom from religion!

1

That has got to be frustrating. I'm so sorry. I hope that life will protect you. Would that we could put aside the superstition and allow each of us to be who we are.

Do not give up

I'm sorry our government will not put its support and money behind the majority of your population to combat the elder population of extremism. Rather its cause being towards finding ways to divide them and spread false narratives to create another war. I keep hope in that your majority youthful nation will one day over take the extremism some day soon! The strides towards that seem to short and costly in time and life. I wish better times come to you soon!

My deepest condolences.

One day soon there will be freedom again in Iran.
