One of the best was that someone told me that they felt my style of communicating and argumentation is like Sam Harris’ style.

And this person meant it as a compliment.

In a different note.... all my 3 children do something with music, sing, play and dance. None thank their mother. In my family I am the "legendary artistic uncle".

When my kids tell me how proud they are of me for what I've made of my life post divorce. How I have stayed strong and not compromised. Also, when someone on here tells me how I've helped them, that just makes me teary. I like to build people and encourage them. We all need someone in our corner giving us encouragement.

I work in a nutrition dept at a hospital. I had someone this past week, find me thru mutual friends (small town) and thank me for the kind words I had offered two years earlier. It was humbling. To take the time to thank me, for something I felt was so simple to give, after so long really touched my heart. Her mom was hospitalized, while I don't remember the interaction, as it was regular for me, I guess I went out of my way to offer her comforting words, which stayed with her. Best compliment I have received by far, being thanked for my empathy and compassion was huge to me.

A person once told me that I was kind and genuine, and he was honored to know me. I was shocked, and touched. It was very sweet.

Who will know that as very young I scared people and later it turn out to be best compliment a man wishes can receive out of the bag because there is no substitute, really. Ironic, ironic.

I can't say... Because it will sound like bragging.

But compliments, if sincere, are food for the soul. So I often offer sincere compliments to my friends and family.

@Donotbelieve

That is very nice of you.

Now I'm blushing. (Hugs.)
