Greetings all, I am new to the site and am liking what I am reading. Curious how many folks here have attended a Unitarian Universalist church. I am a long time member of one and enjoy it a lot, particularly the Service/Justice work. Many us try to keep UUism grounded now in humanism. Looking to hear others experiences if they attend/visited.

Have been attending UU churches for a long time. Liked the one in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the one in Lincoln, Nebraska not so much (not very friendly), and two different ones here in Oregon. The last one just had its 30th anniversay of charter Sunday, and I am one of the charter members. We have a lot of agnostics, atheist, and humanists in our group. Have had an active Humanist group for last couple of years. Are putting together the info. need to be certified as Free-Thinker Friendly. Heavily involved with our church.
And welcome to the site.

Hi and welcome! I haven't interacted much on here yet either as I have been doing most of my discussion with non-believing acquaintances on facebook groups. This site is relatively new and I will come back regularly to support it. I hope it grows. I agree with the comments about UU churches. I have attended a few and they are the most likely places to find local like-minded people among established churches. (They do have a high complement of anti-science "woo" types also though.)

Hey Katrillian (what a nice flow to that name). Yeah, we have some woo being spread here also but just ever so lightly. Not unexpected given the vaguaries of the “faith”. Most tend to put their faith solely in others humans and try to have some positive impacts on the world. If others need some inspiration from some mystical element, doesn’t bother me too much. I don’t hear anyone subscribing to a personal Jesus and dialing a prayer line.

I'm an atheist and have been a UU for about a year now. I am really enjoying it, mostly for the service and activism, but also because I've met a lot of very smart, like-minded people. It's a wonderful place to find community as a non-believer.

I am a UU member. My church is a secular bastion of hope in a very religious area. Not all UU churches have been as good a fit, but I love my current church.
