You’re Living in 2018 if… Thought I would add a little levity to the day.

  1. You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave.

  2. You haven’t played Solitaire with real cards in years.

  3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of

  4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

  5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is they don’t have e-addresses.

  6. You pull into your own driveway and use your cell to see if anyone can help carry the groceries.

  7. Every commercial on TV has a website at the bottom of the screen.

  8. Leaving the house without your cell (which you never owned for most of your life) is a cause for panic.

  9. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.

  10. You start tilting your head sideways like this : ) to smile.

  11. You’re reading this and nodding and laughing.

  12. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

  13. You are too busy to notice there was no No. 9 on this list.

  14. You actually looked back up to check that wasn’t a 9 on the list!

I don't do any of these things. Most often I leave my smart phone behind at home. Peace and quiet. I want to enjoy the great outdoors.

NEVER look at my phone while walking, driving, hiking or working out.

My daughter Claire, 28, pressured me into getting a smart phone in Nov. 2017. She added me to her plan for free.

The only thing I like about a smart phone is the GPS driving directions.

My I-phone was an inheritance from my late partner. The coverage is poor at my house, don't know how the thing works and don't care. Only have the phone part (and, yes guilty, of the solitaire app) when off island on a prepaid plan. Land line works just fine for me + I don't have to worry about being tracked at my every move.

My dream is to buy a house at the edge of some town or in the country where it's quiet, I can ride a/my horse in the day and gaze at the stars at night. I'm tired of city life, and as for the phone... I get close to 200 spam calls a month. I have an app that silences them but because spammers fake their caller IDs to look local and I only allow known contacts, I may be missing calls from people I'd rather not. City life in that sense might follow me but like you I'll leave my phone where it won't bother me. I don't need to play with it if I have nature and animals around to entertain me.
By the way I really love many of Pauls' early songs. I used to walk around outside in the middle of the night singing them to myself...

How about trying to open your front door with the remote car keys!!!!!????? or is that just me? 😕

I should add one additional item; you can't control your messages because the computer won't let you. I have gone over this time and time again and cannot remove number 9. Even though it is gone in the preview it always gets inserted in the final product. It was supposed to be a joke and when people read it on the old fashioned paper they roll on the floor.Maybe I should stick to more serious stuff. @goldenvalleyguy

Funny. And most of it is true for me, although I do have a little black book with addresses and phone numbers just in case my phone blows up. I also keep all of my various account passwords on my phone but they are in a code. If I forget the passwords I'm screwed

AmelieMatisse
I keep an alphabetized, typed list of passwords in my desk file drawer. In my will, I said where the list of passwords is located.

@LiterateHiker oh that is a great idea

@AmelieMatisse
Thank you.

I do not have a smart phone, don't want one. A land line works just fine. A basic cell phone is used when on my bike - I had a day that the wind picked up and I had to call a friend to come get me. It was not windy when I started out but by the time I headed home a 30 mile an hour wind out of the north had settled in and the only way home was west.

I am the same and most of these items don't describe me but then again I'm not normal.

  1. Never put my pin in the microwave, I usually use the add 30 second button.
  2. True on the solitaire, but I haven't owned cards in years.
  3. Nope, the kids each have one number, but I have no idea what they are without my contacts list.
  4. First I IM them, if they don't respond then the IM goes to their email.
  5. My reason for not staying in touch is I don't care. I'm in touch with those who matter.
  6. I live alone, so no help with the groceries. However, I do call SIL (8 miles away) for really heavy stuff. He's good that way.
  7. What commercials? Turned off cable.
  8. YES! Cell is always in left front pants pocket. If I'm not in jeans/slacks then it is in my purse and I'm anxious all day.
  9. Yes, coffee before heading out the door to work. I'm online while I eat breakfast.
  10. Nope,
  11. Yup
  12. Nope
  13. There was a number 9. Coffee, remember?
  14. LOL, but no. Or maybe I cheated answering numerically.

The other day I told my son that my cousin sent me an email asking to come visit him in Northern California this summer. My son asked my we were communicating in such an “old fashion” way. didn’t we just text each other?

They're practically the same, but kids are keen to point out subtle differences and own whatever "the latest" thing is. Makes them feel smart.
